Wal-Mart Targeted Over Corruption and Labor Practices
Walmart isn't actually the largest corporation in the world, that is Exxon, and that is just by revenue, not by profit (which the rank behind the likes of Microsoft and others). Just thought I would point that out, though, they are number 2 and not by a huge margin off of number one.

Windows 8: The Animated Evaluation
Windows 8 reminds me of Apple-style arrogance. Like charging $29 for an adapter, and foisting Apple Maps on users, Microsoft foisted Metro on users.
Having used it on my sister's computer, it's clearly not sufficiently consolidated with the desktop option. It doesn't offer any usability improvements to the extent I've used it. As the video points out, accessing menus is confusing and is immediately obvious to any power user who wants to set it up as they like.
Their intentions are clear. Consolidate desktop, tablet and to a lesser extent phone to a similar UI and thereby gain an advantage over Google/Apple which are relatively fragmented.
Problem is, they're approaching it by foisting it on people. As mentioned Metro/Desktop bridging is half baked. Rather than removing the start key, they should have made Metro optional, and incentivised people onto it through usability benefits.
The interface for desktop mode is not ready. In keeping it optional, they could have given themselves breathing space on top of the Windows 8 release to make integration far more seamless.
The point of full screen is clear from a productivity point of view. Clear all distractions and get the job done. Problem is, instead it is acting as a barrier to usability through confusion menu navigation.
While the video creator has exaggerated the problems I think his points are spot on.

Sticker shock: Why are glasses so expensive?
They didn't have a problem going after Microsoft so one wonders why Luxottica gets a pass.
Are they bypassing monopoly laws or do these laws not exist in Italy and EU?

Bill O'Reilly is Stupid
*Ahem*
It's horrible how those people @ MIT, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Apple, Google, Ebay, Microsoft, Facebook, etc. just want things! Those worthless democrats keeping the economy alive are nothing but bloodsucking welfare recipients... If only they'd follow the lead of the republican states like Alabama, and Mississippi, we'd be in a better shape!

It's a shame that Microsoft decided to stop bringing Halo to the PC after Halo 2, sure, it wasn't the greatest game series ever made but I still would not mind playing it anyhow.
Microsoft bought out Bungi in the first place and turned what would have been an incredible PC game into the shite that became an Xbox exclusive. Fuck Halo and Microsoft.

Oh I'm quite sure there's money to be made in PC games, but I guess Microsoft still thinks they can move more Xboxes with Halo as an exclusive, although I suspect that anyone who really wants to play Halo that badly already owns one by now. Or maybe they're just still mad that the same marketing strategy doesn't work as well with operating systems and that the majority of PC users called Microsoft on their bullshit.

No money in the PC game for them. You can't charge for map packs, Spartan Ops, skins etc.
I really think it's more about the DLC issue and secondly assuring the Xbox has at least one killer exclusive game.
They will push to sell way more DLC with Halo 4. Spartan Ops will be chargeable once it beds in.
I'm not sure that Microsoft gives a rats arse about PC gaming. They interest lies in owning the living room.

Ditto even as a non-Halo fan.

MS Surface - Dancing Clicking Magnets
actually that loud click is part of the selling point.
if you watch the CES demonstration one of the new marketing terms is "listen for the click"
the optional touchpad was manufactured to have a very loud click, which according to research they said supposedly gave this satisfying feel when clicked and the loud click was to let you know it's connected and to "show off" to others when they hear your "click"
the click thing is a bit silly though imo.
here is more talk about the patented "click" sound
http://gizmodo.com/5952078/inside-surface-microsofts-insane-quest-for-gadget-perfection
The extent to which this click was obsessed over during the design process seems like marketing hot air, then insanity, and then after you keep hearing them talk about it, you realize it's just a company truly giving a damn about making something beautiful and nearly perfect.
Surface has an extra, custom-designed hinge devoted solely to create this particular click sound.
What Should the *Win Channel Be Renamed? (User Poll by lucky760)

I'm not going to expend the effort to completely rewrite that code into something much more complex and slower to execute just to support functionality that we never intended to allow in the first place.
Amen to that. Now could you please go explain that to Microsoft, Apple, Google, and 99% of the other developers out there?
