Do tell, if you can remember.... I love a good title.

And clearly your tagging skills are better than mine, since you were caught in the submitting process.

In reply to this comment by arvana:
Haha I almost gave you a sympathy vote anyways... next time!

Your title WAS way better — so was mine when I went to submit it too...
In reply to this comment by bareboards2:
Yeah, well, my title was funnier. I was looking forward to causing some grins.

I'm still learning the tag thing. That is the first thing I did -- went and looked at the original's tags to see where I went wrong. Shorter is better -- I was too specific in my type of plane.

I enjoyed my one vote I garnered -- mine!

Looks interesting. Sometimes I think certain literary historians simply have it in for the Bard of Stratford-upon-Avon, but then I'm no literary historian.

I met the decedent of the Earl of Oxford in College. He came to give a talk on this stuff. Unfortunately for him, there were a number of very well-respected Shakespeare scholars in attendance who pulled this story apart. This was over 10 years ago, so I can't even pretend to do it justice, but the guy basically left the stage in embarrassment because he had absolutely to explanations for all the stuff, generally agreed upon, which pretty much ruled out the Earl of Oxford as the writer of the Shakespeare plays.

In the end though, movies like this (and Oliver Stone's JFK) will serve to color the general population's concept of such controversies, giving far more weight to conspiracy theories than they actually deserve.

In summary, they do have it in for the Bard and our current society just LOVES a conspiracy theory...

Totally disagree. MSNBC & Fox are peas in a pod, just on opposite sides of the pod. MSNBC doesn't lie & distort and it's hosts aren't insane? No offense, but only a person who had been braised for decades in the bile of liberal bias could possibly think that.

I dont live in the US, but from my perspective I have watched rightwing broadcasting in the US descend into utterly paranoid absurd nonsense the last 10 or so years, largely because of FOX. From my perspective, and the rest of the world,, FOX isnt even rightwing, its just insane, a network that has basically constructed its own reality that it operates within, in this pseudo-reality Reagan is still the king, False, Christian versions of the Founding Fathers were infallible gods who freed the slaves and Glenn Beck is considered sane.

The same kind of crazyness is found in places like Italy, where Berlusconi owns most of the media. Luckily there are always alternatives in the US, but because FOX have been so successful in setting up the right wing pseudo-reality far into crazy town, the balance point between left and right is now far off to the right. Everything becomes "socialist" in comparison, MSNBC, BBC, AlJazeera,CNN, compared to Fox, these are basically the red army propaganda channel compared to FOX

So which worldview do you think is closer to the truth: One where FOX is plain nuts, or one where the rest of the world are all brainwashed liberal-socialist-marxist-communist-nazi sympathizers?

Think about it.

Take Obama as an example: Now talk to ANY proffesional political analyst in the WORLD, and they would all say that Obama is a Center-leaning Democrat, more to the right than, say JFK or Jimmy Carter, for instance. But because FOX and others has, ever since Obamas campaign started, and perhaps even a bit before that, they have distorted, lied and insinuated systematically for close to 3 years now, and now you'd do extremely well to convince even one person at a tea-party rally that he isnt a reincarnation of Stalin. Just forget about even trying to place him on the political spectrum in america, Fox and friends have made him into a socialist maniac. A SANE analisys of Obama would perhaps land him as a right-center leaning democrat.. Now what does this tell you about how fucked up FOX really is?

THEM'S FIGHTIN' WORDS. Seriously, I was obsessed with this movie when it came out. I saw it theatrically eight times, which is still a record for me. I actually bought the soundtrack, which I almost never do. I even bought the music book so that I could attempt to play the theme on the piano, even though my piano playing skills were basic, putting it kindly. I haven't seen the movie in years, so I don't know how well it holds up (I'm almost afraid to revisit it, as I'm fairly sure I won't find it as mind-blowingly great as my 11-year-old counterpart). But I know the soundtrack holds up -- there's an sense of awe and a majesty to it that I just love, and I definitely think it's among Williams' best work.
>> ^shuac:
One of Williams' least inspired scores. Get back to me when they do Superman.
My favorite YT comment: The asian kid in the white shirt with guitar was the best!

Oh come on! It's far too simplistic for me. Boring changes with a weak narrative thread (melody). I don't think it fits with the film's subject matter very well either. I don't hear much awe. I hear something similar-sounding to awe: yawn.

Look at his wins (scores that matched up very well with the films): Jaws, Star Wars, Superman, Raiders of the Lost Ark, JFK, Nixon. Nixon is especially good, so much so I bought the soundtrack. The main theme **IS** Nixon, it's that fucking good.

Anyway, it's a matter of taste and I happen to know you have excellent taste in films. You're just wrong about *this*.

The American Dream

shagen454 says...

Do you really think people from the banking industry took out JFK? I mean it's feasible but grotesque. Anyway, I kind of shy away from this topic because the reality is - if you want to change America you'd have to be pretty fascist in how you go about taking out that shitty, greedy, evil, fucked up 1%. But, just remember who owns the military. One of these days I'll get around to moving to another country and leaving this one to the shitards.

Again, I'm not questioning WHY they collapsed. I'm questioning the manner in which this particular building collapsed. Time has no bearing on the matter. People still wonder how JFK was assassinated and it's been what, 40+ years?

The problem with JFK Assassination theories is that no one can come up with WHY those who were supposed to be involved would want to assassinate him. Not that it matters, it basically wastes peoples time while they go to conventions and discuss the JFK assassination instead of say participating in their democracy or trying to make life better for their community.

Also for the 9-11 Conspiracy theories I used to be into it big time. You ever wonder why no one has brought the question to an engineering journal...or architecture organization? Someone who can do some experiments and maybe use their expertise to help people answer this question. I posed that to a few Truthers once and they told me that the US Government must've gotten to them. That assumes that they're that good at keeping a secret with thousands of people involved and if they have that sort of reach we might as well just give up. If they have the power to control all those people...we've basically already lost. Which is why I don't believe it anymore...it just doesn't make sense to me.

Eisenhower -- lost to history
JFK -- low taxes, strong national defense. Would be a Republican today.
Nixon -- had the grace to step down. Did not authorize or know about Watergate break-in.
Ford -- RINO who tripped alot.
Carter -- Worst President until You Know Who.
Reagan -- Pride returns to America. Economic boom. Enemies given beat down. Made left look like fools.
Bush 41 -- almost won Iraq War, then didn't. Wimp taxocrats rolled over. "No new taxes." Crucified by pre-internet media/entertainment complex. Now heralded by liberals as he is harmless.
Bill Clinton -- convicted felon. Genuinely cares as shown by million-dollar speaking engagements and cheating on wife. Also, forced himself on women and if they didn't comply, had them fired. I thought liberals protected and cared about the "little guy". Filth only cared about his Little Guy.
Bush 43-- RINO aka "halfservative" who rubber-stamped all spending but still a cause célèbre of liberal apoplexy to this day
Obama -- You Know Who. Clueless, corupt community organizer fools the fools: funny movie premise, not funny in reality.

ROTFL! That's some funny shit.
