I'd like a Wii, but I'd rather spend my money on PC games.
That's pretty much what I do. I used to be a console gamer, but since coming to college I don't have a TV and have switched over to using my PC.
I'm primarily a pc gamer but for parties nothing beats it (ok maybe rock band)
We have addresses? I have to look into that. I haven't plugged the thing up since I moved 2 months ago
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/messageBoard.jsp#access Should have everything ya need, I look forward to it!
uh... as a non-Wii owner, might I ask what it is one does with these numbers?
oh hehe it just allows you to message to and fro wii people in your address book and play games online that are supported
I would like to have sat on the meeting that decided that long 4 set numerical sets are the best way to allow user to user communication via the Wii, which is primiarly a console system meant for causal gamers and kids.
^yeahh that's so japanese. those people will go through any kind of ridiculously tedious electronic procedure without flinching. witness Gran Turismo on the playstation, asking you if you want a replay about 6 times before you are finally allowed navigate a menu system to try again. Or try changing the aperture on any japanese pocket camera.
comment downvotes, no comment.
great.
nice talking with you guys.
^ yeah, wtf? what did MINK say that was so downvotable... I don't get it?
"that's so japanese"? possibly? I dunno.
I dropped a note to Dag about the idea but since others wonder I'll mention it here as well I guess. I've been noticing that a lot recently, with comments and with vid downvotes. In the recent Ron Paul and evolution thread someone was almost downvoted out of the conversation before Silvercord posted to say something about it.
When I first started reading here I remember a SiftTalk thread on downvote etiquette, not rules as such but just a conversation on how we thought it should be used to help the sift and avoid personality or belief based pissing contests. Maybe it's time to revisit the idea.
I took it as a racist remark, "those people" etc. I've cleared things up with MINK anyways. This really wasn't anything to do with a personal attack. You have a good idea drattus, just don't know how many people would pick up on it in my blog. I'd recommend you start a ST thread.
I considered that but don't think I'm the right one for it, I'm good with facts and sources but I suck at the social stuff and would be sure to screw it up somehow. If it's done right we get somewhere, blow it and we've "been there recently" with nothing actually changed.
Dag is aware of the idea and many others here are both better with people and more familiar with the prior threads and agreements, for me it's just a hazy "I seem to remember a thread" type of thing. If anyone wants to do it and needs a hand looking up old threads or something I'd be willing but past that I think I'm ill suited for it. Just make sure to drop Dag a note first in case he's already on it or has ideas of his own for it.
@snipe Hmmm... I guess I see that, I suppose I just kind of didn't read it that way given the propensity for users of this site (in general) to consistently point out the quirks of the Japanese... I mean, how many playlists are there that are essentially themed, "WTF will those wacky Japanese do next?", etc.
simply abolish comment voting. it hasn't achieved its stated aims and it even causes extra problems we didn't have before.
sure it's nice to have a handy way to see karaidl's latest hilarious oneliner, but there's other ways to do that without starting yet another pissing contest.
my comment about the japanese is exactly the kind of thing that gets a kneejerk downvote without any discussion. same goes for upvotes. i can see how thesnipe made that mistake, in retrospect i wouldn't have written "those people" so conversationally, but fuck it... do i really have to think about the comment police every time i add something to a debate?
laaaaame.
I've yet to get my Wii (the DS works fine w/it oddly enough)working with my wireless router. I'll be sure to post my # whenever I figure it out. Smash Bros Brawl is around the corner afterall.
