americas war on drugs-the culture high-trailer

from raw story:
British billionaire Richard Branson, Young Turks hosts Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur, and rapper Snoop Lion appear in a new documentary criticizing the “war on drugs” strategy as a failure for the U.S.

Branson argued in an online post on Wednesday that the film, The Culture High, “takes a raw and honest look at modern day cannabis prohibition, asking ‘what exactly is going on here?’”

Kasparian and Uygur can also be heard in the trailer questioning media and political policy connected to the prohibition against marijuana.

“We think, ‘Well, if you’re good at raising money, that must mean you’re a good politician,’” Uygur says. “What does that have to do with serving the people?”

Branson’s post came on his participation in a report by an advocacy group, the Global Commission on Drug Policy, calling on the U.S. to treat marijuana-related policies as health issues, instead of “criminalizing people for drug use and possession.”

“We are wasting way too much money and way too many other precious resources on incarceration, when we could and should be spending those resources on education, vocational training, reentry, and – in the case of drug users – on treatment and proper medical care,” Branson wrote following the report’s release.
