The Pixies - Monkey Gone to Heaven on David Letterman

The lyrics reference environmentalism and man's relationship with the divine, themes that were also explored in Doolittle. "Monkey Gone to Heaven" was the first Pixies song to feature guest musicians — the band is accompanied by two cellists, Arthur Fiacco and Ann Rorich, and two violinists, Karen Karlsrud and Corine Metter. The song was critically well received; Rolling Stone commented that "Monkey Gone to Heaven" was a "a corrosive, compelling meditation on God and garbage."
