Police Await Proof, Woman Claims Dad Was Zodiac Killer

CORONA -- A woman who claims her father was the infamous Zodiac Killer that terrorized the Bay Area 40 years ago has yet to turn over a pair of eyeglasses she says came from one of the murder victims, police said today.

Deborah Perez, a 47-year-old real estate agent, made the stunning claim at a news conference yesterday in San Francisco.

Perez told reporters that she accompanied her father on at least two of the Zodiac slayings, wrote the killer's letter to San Francisco attorney Melvin Belli.

Perez says she was seven and was with her father when he killed Darlene Ferrin at a park in Vallejo and Paul Stine in San Francisco in 1969.

She also claims to have a pair of brown, horn-rimmed eyeglasses she says her father took from Stine, a cabbie shot on Oct. 11, 1969.

She said she is turning them over to the San Francisco police in hopes of proving her story.

But San Francisco police Sgt. Lyn Tomioka said today that she has yet to turn in the glasses.

"She did indicate she was going to bring us those glasses," Tomioka said. "We certainly would like to see those glasses and if they merit testing, we'd like to do it
Perez' father, Guy Ward Hendrickson lived in Orange County in 1968 and 1969, when the Zodiac killed his five known victims.

He died of cancer in 1983.

Perez is working on a documentary on her story.
