Liverpool's Cunard Yanks - Origins of Merseybeat

Trailer for a documentary film about the Merchant Seamen in the 1950's who had an impact on Liverpool and UK culture, through the fashions and music they brought back from New York. This laid the basis for Merseybeat and The Beatles. Features an interview with the Seaman who sold George Harrison his first Gretsch Guitar. Narrated by Paul Gambaccini, it features music from Sam Cook, Bobby Darin, Fats Domino and Nina Simone. The Premiere is being held in Liverpool at the Philharmonic Hall on June 21st 2007.
