The Forgotten Woman Trailer
OK, So I watched a movie last night called "Water".
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0240200/ It is a story about what happens to woman in India if their husband dies. The lose everything and the women are discarded.
It was the husband's job to take care of the wife and if he dies, the family takes back everything he owned and kicks out the woman.
The woman may NEVER re-mary (even though there is a law that says they can) - Their religion says they can not ever... Essentially, they are a burden, they are just cast away...
The only other choice they have is to be killed and laid beside their husband.
This is an excerpt from "The Forgotten Woman", a documentary Inspired by the 2006 Academy Award® nominee for Best Foreign Language film, "Water," this documentary tells the story of some of the 20 million Indian widows who are abandoned by their families and literally turned out into the streets when their husbands died. "Water" was a fictional recounting of this terrible tradition, set in 1938. "The Forgotten Woman" is true, and happening today.
