Great Brook Ice Out 2011 - Flash flood through a back yard!

YouTube Description:

A once a year phenomenon: a tidal wave of slush breeches the banks of the Great Brook.

How did I get the shot? I was pretty sure the morning of March 6 that that would be the day, as it had rained all night. So I just set up the video cam on a tripod mid morning and started shooting. When it happened three hours later, I just edited out the prelims. The camera records to a hard drive, so I could easily erase the extraneous stuff. Then I did the narration as a voice over, which makes it look like I timed it perfectly.
