The Giant Pacific Octopus is smarter than you might think. And at the Smithsonian's National Zoo, Jorge Ribas watches one use its wits - and many arms - to get a snack.

I've loved Octopus since I went to the San Francisco aquarium and as I stopped beside an empty tank, one of these things appeared from a pile of rocks. It was really big and stretched right out like it was putting on a show for the silly looking humans that wander by. So we checked each other out while I was gazing into its eyes, not sure where it was looking. I'm not saying it was romantic, just cool ;o) Felt kinda like meeting an alien, something really smart!
