YouTube: The chairman of the FCC has proposed a plan that would open up a portion of the communications spectrum to the public, paving the way for free WiFi to cover virtually every populated area in the United States. If the Federal Communications Commission approves the plan, it will go a long way toward achieving FCC chairman Julius Genachowski's goal of making the internet available to every American. The move would go a long way toward eliminating the information gap between those who have access to WiFi and those who don't. It would also spur on innovation.
