Arsonists Set Pet Store On Fire (All Animals Rescued)

A former pet store owner who pleaded guilty in October to setting her shop on fire was sentenced today to 5 to 14 years in prison.

Gloria Lee pleaded guilty to arson, attempted animal cruelty, and insurance fraud. During today’s hearing, Lee said that she was pregnant, but prosecutors said it was an attempt to receive a lenient sentence. Prosecutors also said that Lee thought she had turned off the surveillance system before setting the fire.

Lee apologized for setting the fire Jan. 27, 2014, at the Prince and Princess Puppy Boutique at 6800 S. Rainbow Blvd. She blamed co-defendant Kirk Bills, saying she was afraid of him. The 27 puppies in the store were all rescued.
