Arizona is now in full-swing of it's "Monsoon" season, which brings about insane lightning storms, high winds, dust storms that rival those in the Middle East and flash floods which rapidly cause dangerous flooding in the streets of the cities. It's definitely a pleasant change over the record breaking heat wave we experienced - but unfortunately, this flashflood took the lives of 9 people in a swimming hole further down the wash.
I live next to a major wash and have been observing the nature of how these work for the first time. Most of the year they are (duh) completely dry. Some washes are the size of a small river and like the video they can become extremely violent and in a hour completely gone on a daily basis. They also bring about "snake season" as the snakes find higher ground in people's yards.
