Largest & Biggest Container Ship In The World in Southampton
Those of us in the nuclear community have discussed turning container-ships like these into a functional civilian nuclear navy. The normal powerhouse in this beast is a Wärtsilä-Sulzer RTA96-C, an amazing 107 389.049 horsepower engine, and even though they talk about its fuel efficiency with it...it still burns hundreds of tons of bunker fuel a day (nasty stuff). They also go slower now to burn less fuel in this energy conscience world, whereas a reactor basically has no fuel costs. You wouldn't need a large one either, 80MW or so, so design specs would be very modest.
The Vocal Powerhouse that is Meat Loaf
>> ^doogle:
1. Rename this to "The Vocal Powerhouse That WAS Meat Loaf"
2. After watching this and the AFL Grand Final 2011, my expert amateur opinion is that he's losing his hearing.
He definitely has the range and the voice, but it's hitting the wrong notes, and he's not gauging it right. It's not like he's Axl Rose who's lost his raspiness, Axl is hitting the right notes (albeit like a schoolboy falsetto).
Not entirely unlikely for Meat Loaf; his age makes him likely to lose his hearing. Add to that being a musician surrounded by loud music: very likely. He's putting in the energy, but doesn't have that feedback loop that those belted out vocals are missing the mark. He may as well be covering his ears and screaming. Which is kind of what it sounds like.
My two cents.
I suppose it could be...but it hurts to see one of the best voices of our (my, anyway) lifetimes lose it. How long ago was Bat Out of Hell 3 recorded...because he was nothing short of perfect for that one. That's a lot of damage to show up in 6 short years.

I don't buy for a minute that this is legit. Someone dubbed the sound.
I've heard Meatloaf too many times to think he would perform in public sounding like that. He's far too much of a perfectionist for that.
No, it's legit... for proof that he is past it (and yet the female singer is not), check out the 2011 Australian Grand Final performance
It's legendarily terrible.

I can't HEAR YOU! So you must be admitting you were wrong.

Rugby what? >> ^kymbos:
Love the description of the GF as antipodean Superbowl. Fuck rugby league.>> ^Kofi:
He USED to be able to sing.
He "sang" somewhat similarly at our equivalent to the Super Bowl here in Australia. He did not take criticism gracefully.

conspiracy?
Consider the facts:
-Most musicians and artists are liberal.
-The backing band chose to play "America" in a key awkward to the human voice.
Deliberate SABOTAGE? Probably not.
Oh man....yer onto something distpiuafurtdy.....Wonder if he jacked this shit on porpoise??
Anyone with a flimsy, two-octave range can wing that song in any key-
What We Can Learn From Iceland -- TYT
>> ^brycewi19:
Gotta ask, but can it be concluded that Iceland's actions with the banks and debt forgiveness is a direct correlation to their increase in GDP? Or are there other factors that this video is not including?
What other factors?
Iceland's biggest exports are aluminum and fish, which accounts for the majority of their GDP. Not exactly two dynamic growth powerhouses traditionally.
Some sifter's like to take shots at TYT (some not undeserved) but rarely back up the rhetoric with facts. All evidence points to the pulling the banks in to line and relieving the populace of massive debt burdens (freeing up cash to keep, for example, small businesses running employing people etc) as the major cause of a return to growth after the initial contraction.
You want to see a sort of pre-emptive version of this policy, look at Australia. We have a highly regulated and controlled banking environment and the government provided stimulus during the GFC. Our banks are not allowed to expose themselves to nearly the same level of risk that US or other banks are in deregulated markets. Now, in 2012, banks are taking record profits and the country didn't suffer nearly as badly as most of the rest of the developed world...
Funny thing about this urge to have few/no rules or punishment for banks and their executives, if you broke in to a store, robbed it and burned it to the ground, a republican would probably call for your head and more police to enforce that it doesn't happen again. So what happens when people do the same thing to the economy of a nation? They get rewarded with more money? Doesn't make sense to me.
Muppets are Gross
Is this some sort of record? Losing the Dread Red P in much less than 24 hours?
Welcome to the sift! A video powerhouse I'm guessing....
