Death of a Honey Bee

Cee-Lo Green - "F*ck You"

EndAll says...

We got Armand White up in this b*tch! Nah. But I wouldn't say that this is a tune with billions of variations. This is some seriously cool, neo-soul, funky shit right here. This isn't some prepackaged Katy Perry pop bullshit! But obviously it doesn't appeal to everyone, and I can respect that. I like the obscenity. Most songs these days are so tame - all these breathy indie tunes with the melancholy guitar and vague computery sounds and such. Every once in a while we need a song to come along and say boldly: 'Fuck You! And fuck her too!'

Fuck yeah.

Concrete Blonde - Take Me Home (2002)

Stormsinger says...

This song and video just blows me away. I've taken to looping it when things get rough...much as I used to do with Pink Floyd when I was young. It's got so very many facets that resonate with my own personal history that it has forced me into the stereotyped reaction; it feels like she wrote this song specifically for me.

It's so rare to find a truly melancholy song that actually ends on an upbeat, without getting all preachy and saccharine. She has managed to remind me that life really does have it's high points...and that I really need to open my eyes and appreciate them. That makes this the kind of song one hopes to discover, but it's more than you could ever actually ask from a songwriter...it's a damned happy day when it all comes together.

So, I promise you one thing. This video -will- end up getting sifted. Even if it takes me five more years to get the votes! I've got points, and I'm not afraid to use them. LOL

Tho that's gotta be some sort of entrapment.

I'm pretty sure he'd have been at home fappin' to cat fancy if not for Operation Imaginary Teen Beasty Girl. For cereal! =/

Harvey Danger - Moral Centralia

Krupo says...

Incidentally, last chance to catch the band coming up this year - on May 28 they decided to call it quits.

http://www.harveydanger.com/news/

"After 15 years, three albums, hundreds of shows, and far more twists and turns than we ever imagined possible, we've decided to put Harvey Danger to rest. The decision is totally mutual and utterly amicable. Everyone is very proud of the work we've done together, but we've also come to feel that our collaboration has--in a very positive way--run its course. We're all eager to try our hands at other projects, musical and otherwise. Chances are we'll all work together in one form or another; if we've learned anything, it's that you never know what will happen. Of course, putting an end to something we've been working on since our early 20s can't help being accompanied by a soupcon of melancholy. Nonetheless, as the Chambers Brothers remind us, time has come today. Rock bands have life spans, and Harvey Danger's has been longer, and more eventful, than even we would have predicted."

Final 6 minutes of Battlestar Galactica - *MAJOR SPOILERS*

Xax says...

Alright, so now that the spoiler warning is in full-effect...

The finale was very disappointing for me. The ultimate answer seemed to be, “God did it.” I was thoroughly unsatisfied with various things: Kara’s revelation and her end, everyone splitting up and going their own way (which just doesn’t ring true at all), no real explanation as to why Hera was so important, the abandonment of technology, the last few minutes... I could go on, but those are the big ones.

A terribly disappointing end to an incredible television series. It left me in a melancholy limbo all day yesterday.

I don't know the site's history, i just found it by chance 3-4 years ago and spent the next two weeks obsessively reading nodes...
I've always been too intimidated by the weird, idiosyncratic interface, close knit community and the high quality writing to write anything myself though... so on the first 2 points, sounds very much like slashdot to me, yeah.

I haven't visited Everything2 in years - it was started by the Slashdot guys, no? I'll check it out. Weird that it pre-dated wikipedia by so much, but never caught on to the same extent. The web is a fickle thing.

Do you know Everything2.com ?
it's like a wikipedia with articles like "the melancholy you get while making tea in the late afternoon and it's raining"... nah, doesn't quite explain its appeal, but it's a nice site, very well written.

Anyway, they have a user-made list of related articles, used and abused with often hilarious results. just saying, if you made a full list of potential ads available to input for a given video, it would almost certainly get abused. Don't know if the advertisers would like it, but it would probably be fun .

That's a neat idea - if we could find an advertiser to play along. We're definitely going to try integrated ads again.

To expand on Kevin143's idea about integrated ads, could they be user-calibrated too? so one could *edit the *ad field to make it relevant and/or non-annoying?

also, I'll chip in in 2-3 business days, which is what paypal tells me it will take to verify my credit card... it's only fair, since I am an ad-blocking, firefox-using meatbag
