I Found It! The Original Shatner Rocket Man
Here's some other things to consider: first, it IS Bernie Taupin that introduces Shatner. I have never seen him anywhere else in my history. Although I haven't seen everything I think this is pretty rare.
Next, if you don't watch this video to the end you miss something special.
The following is from Wikipedia:
The song has been performed by many others (for example, Kate Bush) but arguably the most famous performance was in 1978, at a science fiction film awards ceremony, Bernie Taupin personally introduced William Shatner's unique interpretation of Rocket Man. Shatner's version utilized then-modern chromakey video techniques to portray simultaneously three different facets of the Rocket Man's character. A low-resolution video circulates on the Internet [1]. This performance has built up a cult following, and was parodied on the U.S. animated series Family Guy, Freakazoid, Futurama, Canadian CGI series ReBoot, as well as in the video for "Where It's At" by Beck.
Happy Rhodes live "When The Rain Came Down"
The mp3 of this song was once misidentified as being a duet by Kate Bush and Annie Lennox. It spread like wildfire around the old (very much missed) Napster. We filmed this video at the Tin Angel in Philadelphia, PA on May 9, 1996 (2nd show of the night, and she did 2 more shows the next night). Kevin Bartlett on electric guitar and Carl Adami on bass are hidden there in the background. We traveled from Chicago to see this show (and many many other shows). The trip was always worth the effort.
I apologise for the duplicate. I forgot to click Submit again.
Happy Rhodes performing "Temporary and Eternal"
I just noticed this got promoted. Thanks deathcow! Weird about the politics placement. Yeah, it must be the Kate Bush reference.

From Not The Nine O'clock News, The ever so beautiful Pamela Stepehson's impersonation of the ever so beautiful and wonderful Kate Bush. To the music of "them heavy people"
Girl's Voice Enters the Stratosphere and Stays There
Now to listen to some early Kate Bush and see if she suddenly sounds like Leonard Cohen...
Fan-made video to Kate Bush's "The Infant Kiss"
Kate Bush wrote this song based on dim rememberances of the movie The Innocents (she saw it as a child), which in turn is based on "The Turn of the Screw" by Henry James.
k8fan made this fan video in 1984 (and I helped!) using a VHS dub of the movie off TV, and a cassette copy of the song. He sent a dub of the video to Kate and she LOVED it! Seriously, she loved it so much she telephoned k8fan from England to tell him, and to thank him for sending it to her! She said he captured all the bits she had remembered when she wrote the song. I was at work when she called, of all the darn luck.
k8fan re-did the video last night using the widescreen DVD and a CD of the song.
Kate Bush - Cloudbusting
From Kate Bush's '85 album Hounds of Love. The video, based on the life of psychologist Wilhelm Reich, features Donald Sutherland.

Love Kate Bush. Thanks for this.
Peter Gabriel & Kate Bush - Don't Give Up
I agree, the way they did the duet for this video was really creative, Kate Bush has a good voice too. Really surprised!
Happy Rhodes performing "Temporary and Eternal"
I'll post some of the videos we have on YouTube later this evening.
Happy is brilliant and unique, but please...all the other female singers mentioned on this thread are *also* brilliant and talented (especially Kate Bush - my nick is a rubic). This is not the world of "Highlander", and there can be more than one. The record industry has shortchanged women for years with the belief that "we already have a girl singer on the label" (never mind that they have a few dozen nearly identical male-fronted bands).
Happy's CDs can be purchased via her web site auntiesocialmusic.com

Sounds like Kate Bush, but I like this singer better!
