Messiaen - Oiseaux Exotiques - Aimard, Boulez
Massiaen was an interesting dude. He wrote one of his most famous pieces while in a Nazi concentration camp. (Quartet for the End of Time - which is beautiful and haunting) He also loved birdsong. He recorded and transcribed birdsong as a hobby and then incorporated them into pieces like the one posted above.

Cooler than Halo Boy, I Present Yo-yo Boy - plus Daft Punk
Kids pretty badass. Got some really wild stuff in there, when he crosses and uncrosses up the lines... man.
This is a Kanye West song, as Daft Punk okayed the remaster; its worth keeping in mind that Daft Punk sampled Edwin Birdsong's funk track heavily when making their track. Also worth noting Kanye got a Grammy with this song.

The Loudness War
The worst part of the loudness war is that kids are growing up thinking that this is the way music is supposed to sound. I'm a huge fan of Kate Bush, and her recent album "Aerial" is beautifully mastered, and has a wide dynamic range - literally everything from birdsong to guitars and and drums. And I've actually heard people complaining that the album wasn't "loud enough" to hear on their headphones while exercising.
Ignoring the fact that some music was mean to actually be paid attention to rather than serving as wallpaper for your life, there are things one can do:
Get more efficient headphones
Get a louder player
Download CDEX and Audiacity to rip and compress the music to your heart's content.
Thankfully there are still artists in this world who produce their own music and pay attention to the way the final CD sounds.
Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger (A CAPPELLA!?)
Pretty good.
If you've never heard the song sampled by Daft Punk for 'Harder,Better,Faster,Stronger' its called 'Cola Bottle Baby' by Edwin Birdsong, and is one of maybe four or five Daft Punk songs that are about 80% a straight sample of a disco-electro-funk song from 25 years ago. A bit jarring when you first hear it, and worth the effort of a quick internet search. Daft Punk are sample Gods.
(edit: I just did a google search and here ya go, http://www.zshare.net/audio/cola-bottle-baby-mp3.html , but watch for pop-ups at that link...)
