Chet Atkins - Tiger Rag
>> ^therealblankman:
In my 15 or so years of professional concert production, on thing I've learned above all else is that nothing clears a room faster than a bass solo.

What about Geddy Lee? Or Billy Sheehan? Victor Wooten? Jean Baudin? Larry Graham? Louis Johnson? Norwood Fisher? Flea? Les Claypool? Mick Karn?

Thanks Silvercord, that's awesome!
I knew if I spoke up, someone would come through!

There is an upright electric bass. Eberhard Weber plays one here and shows what a little sampling and a lot of practice can do. You might want to check out some of his other videos on YouTube.

I'd like to see this guy play an "Electric" stand-up base - if there is such a thing - and if there isn't, then why not?
Quite possibly the most awesome bass solo ever

Phil Nimmons 'n' Nine Plus Six - "Bird Burger"
The first solo is a bass solo. Boooooooo! Upvote for a big band that's not from the US. Nice to know that there are other places as well.
Stan Getz Quartet ~ Desafinado ~ The Girl From Ipanema
Nice performance..liked how Marc Johnson started out with a deviant rhythm in his double bass solo. And pianist Jim McNeely also had some nice sequences (did not get an applause).
And of course Stan Getz smoothly telling the story and making it all sound coherent..
Mission of Burma ~ That's When I Reach For My Revolver
This is quite nice, you don't often see a bassist playing chords at any point in the song; and a bass solo on top of that.
Good song.
