Special Report: Snow in Toronto
I'm sorry, I must be a bad Canadian, but John Stewart and The Daily Show are ten times funnier than Rick Mercer and his weekly attempts at comedy.
For one thing, as its name suggests, the Daily Show comes out every day, and it's consistently funny. While it takes Rick Mercer and his team of writers a week to come up with highly imaginative clips like Snow in Toronto. Where do they come up with stuff?

I saw this on BoingBoing. I'm glad they unearthed it. This segment is also in the original post on Talking to Americans:

Rick Mercer: ZENN
I hate Rick Mercer so much. I'm pretty sure he's the most smug man on the planet.

Why are the American so clever? Did you say stupid?
It's been done. Rick Mercer did this a few years back. "Talking To Americans". It aired on CBC
Tucker Carlson Calls Canadians Retarded (sort of)
My thoughts exactly. Its too bad we don't have anyone with any real sense of humor or wit on any Canadian talk shows. I know there's Rick Mercer but he gets really annoying at times and is rarely funny anymore.
Chaser's War On Everything: Talking to Americans
Sobbing? I'm sure Rick Mercer would be like, "right on". I like the Australian Prime Minister bit.
That'd be a pretty easy way to fool people, though - how many people outside of Australia would recognize him anyway?
Of course it's foolish to assume that any head of state would be wandering streets like that, but whatever.
Apology to Americans.
Check out some of the Talking to Americans skits too - like the classic Poutine skit. They're horribly unfair b/c of how fast Rick Mercer speaks when asking his misleading questions, but that doesn't detract from the humour. http://www.videosift.com/story.php?id=8225
I'm guessing theo was just suggesting his political views rather than opinion on videosift.com voting; that was my interpretation anyway.
George Bush thinks that the Prime Minister of Canada is a Pl
Bit of background: Bush was campaigning in Michigan, circa 1999, for the GOP nomination. Rick Mercer, a Canadian humourist, went to Michigan and met Bush and Co. on the campaign trail.
For those of you who aren't aware, Poutine is literally fries, gravy and cheese- kind of a French-Canadian heart-attack-on-a-plate, and for the record the Prime Minister's name at the time was Jean Chretien.
Bush Sr. famously called Mercer an "Asshole" after this aired, and George W., acting petulant, has refused every subsequent interview request by the CBC. In retrospect, it seems like a bit of foreshadowing for many a Bush gaffe to follow.
