ENZED UIM 2016 Jetsprint WORLDS ACTION

newtboy says...

Actually it varies every event. The co-driver has a map of the route through the channels and waives his hand in front of the driver, pointing the way as they go....it’s a bit like rally racing but too loud to speak the directions so they point.

So, at 3:40---what precisely is the course? It's not an oval, it's not a figure 8--what is it?

So five co-drivers/navigators all mis-read this turn on during the walk-through? Or did road conditions change (wetter/gravel dumped on road before curve/someone moved a braking check point marker?)

When Driver And Co-Driver Don't Mesh

The co driver calls are not really correct. I have never heard the terms he is using in a professional rally. He should be shouting the direction left/right followed by a numbering system from 1-6 where 1 is the sharpest. The other 3 calls are square, hairpin and acute.

This should be a standard part of drivers education. You get the boring guy in the cheap suit who makes sure you check your mirrors when changing lanes and stop at railroad tracks, and then next a really pumped up Irishman co-driver yelling instructions at you and berating you for not pushing hard enough on a rally course.

Just a note, you can safely skip the first 2:50 of the video, and miss only one or two minor spin-outs, but save yourself that amount of time in the co-driver screaming.

Why you don't put a telephone pole on a race course.

I think this is exactly the right reason to put the course near poles. Aren't the co-drivers supposed to scout the course before-hand for this stuff?

I might be wrong, but I believe they're only given a map and it probably doesn't show little things like telephone poles.
