An emergency has been declared in Jackson, Mississippi, because up to 250,000 people will be without water indefinitely. ABC News’ Rhiannon Ally explains why.
After decades of deferred maintenance and cutting employees, Mississippi’s capitol and largest city has NO water, not drinking water, no flushing toilets, not even water to fight fires.
The state distribution centers for bottled water also failed miserably with multiple hours long lines in scorching heat, but also running out constantly.
This is how Republicans take care of infrastructure….no maintenance, no maintenance crew, no reserve capacity, no backup, the plan is to wait until it fails and have no backup plan. This is not the first red state city to have its infrastructure collapse from neglect. Texas has an entire energy grid just as close to disaster, also with no backup plan when it fails.
Put Republicans back in federal control, this will become the norm nation wide.
