"The killer posted warnings on the internet: "A disaster in Akihabara" and wrote that an incident would take place on June 5. Kato was heavily into comic-book and video-game subculture.

He admitted to police that he documented his journey on Internet bulletin boards were posted from his mobile telephone,"I'll crash my vehicle into people and if the vehicle becomes useless, I'll get out a knife. Goodbye everyone!" said one posting hours before the crime, as quoted by Japanese media.

As a result, Seven people have been killed and more than 17 injured after a 25 year old Tomohiro Kato, ploughed into pedestrians with a rented two-tonne truck before jumping out and stabbing people downtown Tokyo. Six men and one woman died.

The latest stabbing occurred on the anniversary of one of the country's worst stabbing crimes, when eight children were killed at a primary school Osaka in 2001.
