After the first playthrough of Silent Hill 2, you can find extra items on subsequent playthroughs that can be used to get alternate endings. Finding the DOG key and using it to unlock a door near the very end of the game gives you the best ending to any video game, ever.

Yeah, this isn't scary, but everything leading up to this moment in the game is.
