"'Superman II - The Richard Donner Cut'. What should have been, but wasn't, 30 years ago. Long lost Brando, Reeve, defining moment scene which restores director Richard Donner's original vision for the 2 films, as written by "The Godfather" author, Mario Puzo and creative consultant, Tom Mankiewicz. Brando wanted more money after the success of the first film...the Salkind producers said no...Brando walked and so did Donner(after filming 50% of II, much of it canned due to legalities). Consequently, the father/son relationship, which was the foundation for the first film, was completely lost in director Richard Lester's entertaining, but ultimately meaningless and rather careless "Superman II". A truly definitive version of "Superman II" can probably never, really exist. That golden opportunity was lost long ago. An introduction by Donner explains this."
