Given it's on QI, one can presume it isn't the obvious, to cut wood or trees... I'll avoid channels that might give it away.

To be fair though, I have to wonder if this is just a case that it looks like a forerunner to the chainsaw, or if somebody really looked at this device and was like, "you know... if we [modified it a bit], it'd cut wood".
