Off Duty Pilot Attempts To Crash Alaskan Airlines Plane

An off duty pilot traveling in the in cockpit “jump seat” attempted to down the plane by turning the engines off on a flight from Everett Washington to San Francisco. He was subdued and the plane was diverted to Portland.
Hopefully this will end the practice of allowing off duty employees to ride in the secure cockpits. Their convenience shouldn’t outweigh the passengers right to safety.
