Last Voyage of the SS United States

YT:

The SS United States has sat in Philadelphia for the last three decades with the hopes that someday, the ship will be permanently preserved as a museum or a multipurpose facility. However, in late 2024, the ship was evicted from its pier, and the group working to preserve the ship had no choice but to sell the ship off. Okaloosa County, Florida, purchased the ship to sink her as an artificial reef in their local dive park as a tourist attraction. It’s not the end that most people wanted, but it prevents her from being completely destroyed and ensures that she’ll continue on at least in some form, even if on the bottom of the Gulf.

On February 19, 2025, the SS United States was towed from her pier to begin the long journey down to Mobile, Alabama, where preparations will be made to scuttle her. This is just the story of her final trip down the Delaware River in February, 2025.
