Aussie William Tell: an apple off his head with a boomerang

This video is very short. It shows a man cutting an apple off his own head by throwing a boomerang. The voices in the video are German, but the language doesn't matter: just the demo. Maatc says it is from a German TV show called "Wetten Dass," where people claim they can do something and celebrity judges bet on whether or not they actually can. I think that means this is indeed real, and the youTube claims of precut apples and toothpicks is nonsense.
