A Visual Journey Through Srinagar, Kashmir

Srinagar is the summer capital of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. I visited Kashmir in the spring/summer of 2009 and it was one of the most uniquely beautiful places I have ever been to. Nestled in the Himalayan mountains of northern India, Kashmir is as beautiful as it is politically unstable. Srinagar was recently wracked by renewed unrest after protests and riots broke out after the Eid prayers at the end of the Ramadan. Pakistan still hotly contests India's control over the region.

Despite the instability, I fell in love with Srinagar and I hope to return one day.
