Oi! It's nearly the end of the year and in forums everywhere the discussion is about the music, movies and art that moved the earth in the last twelve months.

I won't deign to discuss film because it looks like another barren year (well certainly in Hollywood) but it's music that gets me going.

I haven't kept up with all that's been happening but some old favourites of mine, My Morning Jacket, released the excellent Evil Urges. Several months after the release of the sublime Stainless Style I am still amazed at Neon Neon.

Rilo Kiley and Mgmt crossed my radar but I'm yet to lock on properly. Also impressed by Kings of Leon who showed that they are a band that are in the biz for the long run.

There also seem to have been an avalanche of solo acts that collectively seem to blot each other out in the mother of all venn diagrams. Somewhere in there I thought Katy Perry's Hot N Cold was a really great pop single.

So what do you guys think? Music is the most popular channel on Videosift by far and we must have some measure of the zeitgeist...
