Texas State Board of Education Rewrites History

bea feels shame.

The Texas Board of Education has been hijacked by members of the extreme right with an unapologetic, political agenda.

Here's an article from the NY Times about the Texas State Board of Educations recent curriculum meeting. Decisions made in this meeting stand for the next 10 years. Because Texas is such a large and populous state, in publishing and education circles it is "the most important and influential state in the country". What Texas decides to include in its textbooks effects most other states across the country.

Thinking about Home Schooling? You probably should.
You should also probably pay very close attention to your state and local school board elections. Local politics is actually tangible and something you can actually effect.
Also, please feel free to make a loud and public spectacle of the atrocious state of education in Texas. (but do remember it's citizens are not all idiots) I'm afraid it's the only way Texas will learn.
