So, I'm not one of these video game geeks who's ever played any of these dorky make believe musical instrument games... Yet.

I'm investigating the possibility of acquiring a pretend band game for the PS3, including guitar, drums, and microphone. The two options available appear to be Rock Band (version 2?) and Guitar Hero (what version?).

Can any of you video game nerds please explain to me the difference between these two games? How are they different? Which one is better? Why?
