Hey, have you noticed that there’s a big election going on? I’ve seen maybe a few campaign videos here and there, but it almost didn’t show up on my radar. Anyway, Zonbie and I thought it might be nice to have a little contest for the other little day that is approaching: Halloween. Therefore he and I are cosponsoring a Horrorshow video contest. Each week, from now until November 1st, we will award *promotes to whomever gets the most votes for their individual Horrorshow videos. First place will get two promotes, and second and third place will each get one promote. You can submit as many Horrorshow videos as you want, but the awards will be given based solely on the highest vote tally for individual videos. This will help level the playing field between charter and non-charter members.

Here is the schedule:

Oct 5 – Oct 11
Oct 12 –Oct 18
Oct 19 – Oct 25
Oct 26 – Nov 1

The video has to be published by midnight at the end of each week, and to keep it simple we will use VideoSift’s clock to determine that, which is on Pacific Time. (Go here: http://24timezones.com/ to determine what your time is in relation to Pacific Time, which is along the U.S.-Canada Pacific coast, not including Alaska.)

We hope to see many people participate. Feel free to pimp your videos here in the comments section. In fact we would prefer that, because it will be much easier to determine who got the most votes if we can find them all in the same place. We’re only going to sticky this for a day or so, but please keep dropping those links in the comments even after we unsticky it.

Now please use the *Horrorshow designation appropriately, i.e., don’t use it as a joke for a New Kids On The Block video or Paul Anka singing “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” It has to be somehow related to the Horrorshow description, which is:

Monsters, Murderers, & Mayhem! All Night Freakshow Action at the Horrorshow Collective! Slasher Films, Monster Flicks, & Gothic Fantasies old & new... Music and Animation... bottom line, whatever makes you scream in the dark!

And stay tuned, kids. We might be doing other contests this month too. We’re thinking about doing a contest for whoever makes the best Halloween-themed avatar, for example. More details may emerge. In the mean time, bring on the BLOOD!
