Everywhere I've looked I've gotten answers like "well it costs the taxpayers $X per prisoner every year". That's not the question I have though. I am a taxpayer and I pay taxes. Those taxes go to the government and I have to have faith their doing something with it. My question is, does the government turn prisoners into profit for the state/fed?
