Flyboard® Air Test 1
Hmm. I don't think CG... maybe editing out the water jet? Or tether? Or wires? It's not as bad as that bear video, haha... a little tougher to call... I'm not ready to call it fake... though it is significantly smaller than the hulking jetpack engines we've seen.
Useless, Dangerous Toilet Paper Machine
Everyone should aspire to own one of those advanced Japanese toilets with the water jets and stuff.

USS Independence LCS-2
>> ^harlequinn:
Does the water jets it is using make any difference to the wake?
Yes it does, but as it's the only economical (by defense standards anyway) way to get that hulk up to those speeds, the foam of the wake really doesn't factor in. The impressive part is the bow waves though, or lack thereof. The pontoons (I don't believe they have engines, otherwise they'd be nacelles) seem to catch the bow waves, possibly re-using the force to retrieve some lost kinetic energy. That last part might be coming out of my ass though.

>> ^Payback:
You know, getting back to the video, it has remarkably small bow waves for such a large ship. The wake is a churning mess that goes on for miles, but it looks like it could pass a 18ft sailboat at flank speed without causing much harm.
Wikipedia says it can reach 47 knots (87 km/h; 54 mph). I don't know much about ships but I know that's fast for a 115 m long ship. Does the water jets it is using make any difference to the wake?

Water Jet Pack fail, live on Fox 5 News
>> ^budzos:
Quite hilarious. Did the reporter's arm knock the guy's thumb off the trigger for a critical tenth of a second?
Actually, it looks like one of the supply hoses from the engine/pump pod got caught on the dock.
