Alone in the Dark 1 Long Play on PC DOS

The 7th Guest: Official Trailer

What was amazing was the outdated polygon graphics, MIDI music, etc. that still scared us. I remember having a hard time in the attic. Its controls and camera views drove me crazy! Haha. I never actually got far too in the full game. Did you finish it?

FYI from many years ago on VS: http://videosift.com/video/Alone-In-The-Darks-First-SceneLevel-Walkthrough and http://videosift.com/video/Alone-in-the-Dark-1-Introduction-With-MIDI-Music

LucasArts Remembered

Quadrophonic says...

I was looking forward to Star Wars 1313 and First Assault. I like when they take the lightsabers out of Star Wars once in while. I can only hope they don't make a Duke Nukem out of that games.

But I'm not sad, this won't be the end of Star Wars games and also not for the adventure genre. Lucas Arts made some really great games, which will last forever and ever. Mainly because one day I'll force my kids to stay in the basement until they solved Monkey Island II on Hard mode without any walkthroughs.

I wish more people who post regular (non-speed runs) gameplay videos. For whatever reason, I really enjoy watching people play my favorite games. If anyone wants any ideas, check out my avatar... Deus Ex or System Shock 2 are at the top of my list.

SS2 ruled.

Beautiful real-time raytracing tech demo in DX11

This showcases raytracings strengths of reflections, refractions and other light effects really well. I still think rasterised rendering is more than capable for current gaming.

I tend to agree, but ray tracing has always been the holy grail in both visual quality...and attainability. For what I remember when I cared, accelerating such a process is rather difficult. I believe, though, rasterisation is still done in "ray tracing" environments, but the lighting model is pure ray tracing; which I believe is a recent break through in rolling out ray tracing engines (see photon mapping). Time to google more ray tracing stuff, forgot how pretty it was

Unreal Engine 4 - Development Walkthrough

Shame there wont be a game using this until the next gen of consoles is released, even though my PC could probably handle it .

Have you seen the specs for the "next gen" consoles? They're already outdated compared to a top of the line PC today, so even when those next gen console come out they aren't going to be able to push the limits of this engine.
