Rugby player scores a try while unconcious

Breasts as Bombs

chingalera says...

They're down on abuse of power, however it rearsit's head:
Personally, their nude protest not only represent the attention and powerful lure of the first-circuit orality of humans in general and the collectively unconcious effect is has in any culture, but when they protest like Lann says, in countries where the males of that culture already treat women like complete dogs, they are speaking to the ingrained, cultural bullshit that has evolved within that particular culture. These are brave women representing a snapshot of the inevitable collapse of cultures and societies whose so-called leaders are determined to keep the BULK of humanity, in the fucking dark ages.....

These women are GOD, I don't care how they align themselves on particular issues, the message is crystal clear for me.

Bungee cord snaps, woman falls 350 feet (and lives)

Jinx says...

Ouch, only the real fall wasn't 350 feet, since the Rope snapped on the way back up, but still ouch...and crocodiles..yikes..

Yah I read about this lol its one of those things that media hyps till the point its 100% bullshit
as you say she probably fell less than 20m easily survivable even if you belly flopped it , as for the crocodiles the water was fast flowing and she was in the middle so it sunlikely they would have gotten her.
the only really remarkable thing about this is that the bunjee rope broke in the first place and that she was lucky she didn't drown / the water was deep enough to brake her fall.

Idk, it looks to me that the cord snaps pretty much as soon as it takes up tension. No doubt it would have slowed her down a bit but I can't imagine by much considering that it was only holding her weight for a fraction of a second.

As for the Crocs, well yes, I agree. The more significant risk was drowning, especially if she had been knocked unconcious from the impact. I'd say it was a pretty close call that didn't really need hyping up.

TSA Thug & Police Thug Assaults Clerk and Steals Pizza

Porksandwich says...

@NetRunner

I guess the point I was trying to make was that I have personally seen the system fail in the last 6 months. My brother was a fucked up mess mentally, and to this day is still irrational to the point that it's like trying to talk to a wall on many topics......especially topics that landed him in the court system. He's not quite as irate as he was, since he got the shit kicked out of him so bad in prison holding (contempt of court charge and was held until his trial could be completed and him sentenced, got probation). He was beaten by 5-8 guys, which they've only charged 2.....broke his shoulder bad enough that they thought he'd need surgery to repair it for the first couple days after it happened. He now has a virtually unusable arm, he can't lift it even as high as his should and there for awhile he couldn't grip anything or raise it beyond his waist. He was also knocked unconcious and had his head split open. And the kicker here was that prior to this they kept him in solitary due to his outbursts related to his mental condition. Within 24 hours of being put into the public areas of the prison, this happened to him. And they didn't press charges until he brought it up with his probation officer and they had no record of it when he mentioned it. They also withheld pain medications....and have now refused to pay medical expenses for what happened in jail...they've even billed him for the trip to and from the hospital for treatment.

Now....this incident could have been prevented a minimum of 3 months ago when they sent him to a mental facility in another city ...for evaluation. They told my parents he was going to be evaluated for a mental disorder (because this happened in the past and even though he went to months of treatment they never corrected it, just covered it). It turned out, the only thing he was being evaluated for was mental competency....does he know right from wrong. That's it. They didn't confirm if he was bipolar like previous diagnosed, or borderline personality disorder like previous diagnosed....or schizophrenic like they thought he was before bipolar was the diagnosis. So they took someone who had previously been diagnosed with a mental disorder, tested him for competency, held him in jail and on house arrest due to the mental disorder, and put then him on trial untreated for his mental disorder. He was put back into jail when he failed to take medications while on house arrest. What sane, rational thinking person would refuse to take a pill a day so he could stay in a house where he can eat regular food, sleep in a bed, take showers regularly..etc? And for that matter, what sane rational thinking person would chew out a judge and then refuse to take a piss test and land himself in jail in the first place when they were going to let him go bail free?

There was ONE, just ONE sheriff in the whole court building that took it upon himself seeing that my brother was not thinking properly...to try to get him in and out of the building without arresting him. All of the others wanted to take him down as soon as he left the court room...he told them no and that he would take responsibility for it. And from there on, everything else was an utter failure. The court system that could force treatment on him to get him back to normal didn't do it, and they are the only ones who can unless you get power of attorney over someone through a lengthy 6+ month process that costs a nice chunk of change.

There's just a near complete lack of division for criminals aside from the worst crimes such as rape, child crimes, and murder...after that..everyone is a criminal whether they truly understand their guilt or not or whether they can be "cured" or not. Personally after seeing what my brother has had happen to him, I think I'd rather be dead than go to prison on any charge......they don't foster anything but breakdown physical, mental, or emotional in those places.

Guy Assaults Police Officer on Bridge - Gets Shot (nt shown)

TheSofaKing says...

From the news article above:
"Mallory had a lengthy violent history and was a suspect in an unprovoked assault 15 minutes earlier. That assault knocked out Rylan Bebermeyer, a volunteer at the Café on Vine, a free meal site in Davenport that Mallory visited."

You don't approach people like this, in these situations with polite requests. Pretty please with sugar on top gets you nowhere with scumbags like this.

NORLICH
"Any case incident that results in the death of a Perp is the officers fault. The perp was reacting to the officers violence, and threat."

You have this completely backwards. It is the police officers job to stop this suspect. A crime has been committed and there is a nexus between the offence and this suspect. Like it or not, Police have the authority to arrest people who have committed criminal acts. Police are trained to react to resistance and force with only as much force as is required to effect the arrest. This guy gets on his knees like he was instructed and the only force applied to him is a set of handcuffs. If he struggles and pulls away he gets a joint lock. If he tries to choke the officer into unconciousness he gets 9mm of lead. His choice. The suspect always controls how much force is applied to them.

With any luck, someday you will get your chance and you will end up just like this piece of shit.

prove, prove, prove.

i've taken plenty of psychology courses, actually, and if you had too, you would know that you learn very early on that jung (and freud) had some fun ideas... but they were just that. they are not science. they are ideas, and unfortunately some of them have been quite damaging. they are outdated and the fact that people still give credit to either freud or jung's untestable unprovable psychobabble is scary.

how you came to the conclusion that jung of all people was the founder of humanism boggles the mind. if you take 2 minutes to look at what jung espoused and then compare that to what humanism is... quite different.

well well well,i really didnt think this vid would get sifted, not only DID it get sifted, but seems we have a discussion going.
good.
every person is in part a product of their enviroment and experiences, and each is different in their own right, people who purport to be of a spiritual nature are dismissed by both religious AND atheist as being weak-minded and wrong.
yet neither side can prove or disprove.
and that suits me just fine.
a religious person will use dogma and doctrine to make their point, oddly enough,so will the atheist.doctrine and dogma are based on tangible text,i can come up with a counter argument everytime using the VERY same doctrine.
but to disprove someones experience?
thats far trickier, and i am not so arrogant to believe i know everything.
i cannot discount this mans experience, and honestly, would drugging him up into a medicated zombie be prefferable to his way of dealing with his perceived existence?
just a thought.

It's not the hypoxia itself that caused all of your associated symptoms and discomfort. Nitrogen induced hypoxia like those mentioned in the documentary would produce that euphoric state before unconciousness.

Did you read the rest of my comment concerning the rest of the media and not just the sift? There is literally ONE female protagonist in the top 40 movies, just like there are NO black protagonists, unless you count Will Smith in Independence Day. In other words, women are very obviously still a "minority". I'm not basing my argument on just the videos, but the videos are a reflection of the greater problem. I'm pointing out that the only videos that made it into the top 15 are there partly because of the way the women in them LOOK. I'm sorry, but if you really cannot see that feminism should be alive and well, you ARE being naive. It's only partially your fault, though. Women still get paid lower wages for the same jobs as men do. This slips past the safeguards and laws because employers just change the title of the job. Rape is a crime of control, not passion, and it comes as a result of a society that tells men that they have to be stronger than and controlling of women in order to be masculine. We also make men believe that the worst thing that they can be is "feminine". If a man does something that we call "feminine," he is a wimp, gay, a sissy. He "throws like a girl", "screams like a girl", "walks like a girl," etc. I'm not going to get too much into it, but there you have it.

I understand that you personally don't feel that way about women, but just because you don't doesn't mean that you don't unconciously perpetuate stereotypes. If you have ever whistled at a woman, for example, that is objectification.

Of course LESS of it exists, of course it is decreasing, but that doesn't mean that we chould stop trying to do something about it and become apathetic and complacent.

Fox is trying to keep Obama out of the whitehouse because he is a Democrat and they're Republicans. I don't know where that comment was coming from.

Why is pornography more popular among men than women? I don't believe that men are any more sexual that women. I don't believe that men are inherently more agressive or violent. I believe that the stereotypes we perpetuate make men into what they are and are the cause of spousal abuse and a million other crimes that are still far more prevalent among men than among women.

If that video was an artistic dance celebrating the beauty of the male body, say, if he had a jewel hanging off the end of his penis, would you still think it was art? Would you have upvoted? Don't try to say it isn't erotic. That's a load of crap.

I'm really am glad that you know that women have brains, though. You seem like a cool guy, but you also don't want to accept the fact that women are still opressed by sterotypes and objectification.

In reply to this comment by Shepppard:
I'm sorry, you're argument is a little skewed if all that you're basing it on are videos. However, I'm not saying you don't have a point. Your argument seems to be based on the fact that the sift has more videos of men then it does women.
I know that's not the point you're trying to get across though, so I'll leave it at that.

My point is simply that less objectification exists in the modern day society. I acknowledge that it's still there for individuals, and unfortunately always will be. There's people who still think we should own slaves for gods sake.

Who knows, Maybe i'm just being naive because my own personal views of what things should be and it's causing me to not see things for what they truly are.

I can though, with confidence say that though it may not be fully abolished, people hiring because of pre-concieved notions (I.e. we'll take the white person because they'll have a better education then the Indian) is at least decreasing.

Maybe it's also because of the difference in nationalities. I'm assuming you're American, and if you are I'm not trying to be condescending at all, and if you're also Canadian, I may be horribly wrong about this.

Canada actually has a commercial going right now encouraging the hiring of immigrants. If you're from the states, I don't know what the situation of race or gender equality is there. The fact that you're on the verge of a Black president, but sources are still trying to keep him out of the white house (fox) should be a hint to me that racial equality still doesn't exist in some peoples eyes, I suppose.

No matter what people may say to me however, call me blind, ignorant, naive, I will still truly believe that at least society on the whole, if not soon sometime soon, will one day accept equality for all. If not, then what's truly the reason for any form of diversity.

Concerning the video, again, maybe it's just me, but I'm not actually sitting here thinking it's erotic (For the record, yes, I'm straight), but more a form of expression. Again, to me a woman isn't just a tool for physical pleasure, they have have the same things I do, humour, brains, expression, and the freedoms to use all of them.

True, at one point women were forced into dancing like that by men, or forced to do it to survive, but it's now her choice. She has that brain, and she's able to use it for herself to make her own choices.

Your opinion similarly reminds me of that of a young adult. I didn't mention it earlier as I thought it might anger you.

not in the least.

Then what holy hell are we arguing about. We Agree!!! (:
not quite, I disagree that "our" American culture affects everyone - no exceptions - across the board with racism per se, although institutionalized racism obviously still exists and affects people all the time. Believe it or not, one can be insulated enough that racism - institutionalized or personal does not affect one's life overall. American Culture is so incredibly vast and full of subsects and counter-sects that to broad-brush it like you have is to declare all offshoots and counter-sects as unaffective which denies the reason most of them exist in the first place. Not only that but to deny the importance and possibility of overwriting that counter-culture and subculture can have is to dismiss them.

I'm not a psychologist, so I probably wouldn't be the best person to ask."

if you recognize your inadequacy in declaring my own prejudices, then how in holy hell can you be so bold as to declare racism as de facto in all people no matter what? kinda setting yourself up as judge and jury, no?

Specifically? no. Generally? Abso-fricken-lutely, I can judge you as part of the larger multi-cultural society of which I am a part.

if our culture is multi-cultural, then how do you suppose your statment - that everyone within it is ______? Isn't painting all Americans as "a little bit racist" a tad ethnicist? Or do you believe the whole of humanity carries certain psychological issues that could be labelled "racist" by basic nature? In which case, why bother to have such an incendiary term like "racism" fit the bill? Aren't you really talking about the tendancy to categorize, label and/or compartmentalize? those are human traits that show in every culture (albeit in different ways) but not the same thing as "racism". Racism is a specific kind of compartmentalization, labelling and categorization with negative prejudices accompanying, but it is not the same thing as any one of those three. It isthe result of the three that deems a trait negative or positive for a human tendancy. Not the similarity with which it is shown throughout cultures. Again, we are disagreeing semantics but in online communication I believe semantics are far more important than in face-to-face communication where we have the luxery of facial expression, body language, inference, and quick corellation of terminology to keep us on the same page.

Prejudice doesn't discriminate (no pun intended) against willing or unwilling.

Ah but it does! Willing prejudice is making a conscious choice of how to arrange one's priorites and adjust one's actions based on the prejudices chosen. If I willingly choose to be careful of blue-eyed men because I decide they are dangerous, then I exercise prejudicial behavior which is willfully done. Unwilling, however, is not chosen... I can choose to avoid blue-eyed men or I can choose to ride above my fear of them based on my past experiences by reasoning with myself. If it is a concious decision I may not be perfect in my behavior, butI will act differently than if I had unconciously made the choice to avoid them. WIthout willpower, behavior can control a person, with willpower, behavior can be altered.

You are clearly obsessed with how other people perceive you.
I am concious of how other people perceive me, of course and I care, rather than take the faux humble attitude (oh so punk) that I don't care. I care and I don't pretend otherwise but that doesn't mean I'm obsessed. Whose experience would you prefer me to talk about when making analogies? Sorry but that's a bit of a pet peeve of mine: you use your own experiences when discussing an aspect of humanity and are then branded "self-obsessed"
And if you really want the truth of the matter so far as I can impart over the internet, the fact is IF I'm "obsessed" with how people perceive me it is because it has been my life's experience to be reminded on a constant basis of how the world perceives me. I have been called "freak" and "mutant" (among other not so kind terms) since I can remember. When one cannot walk through a grocery store at 3am without someone staring with barely concealed pity or disgust in their eyes, one tends to become aware of the fact that one is clearly viewed in very strict terms by the rest of humanity.

MY OPINION IS MEANINGLESS!
if i thought your opinion was truly meaningless i wouldn' be wasting my time talking to you. i believe every opinion, like every human, has meaning.

Me, me, me, me, me, me, me! When you sing you begin with Do Re Mi, the first three words just happen to be, Mi Mi Mi..... How many I's and Me's do you count in that paragraph?
if you'd rather talk about yourself, by all means, no one is stopping you. i'm sure i'd love to learn more about you. as i said before, who the hell else am i going to talk about? the subject is people, culture, humanity all of which i am a member of and my experience is no less valid than anyone elses.

I don't buy it, you've expended way to much time and energy to not care.
i meant i wouldn't care normaly cuz you issued wshat i think of as a throwaway platitude that seems self-congratilatory and usually i don't bother with those except i think you actually believe it to the extent of defending it with aplomb and intelligence.

There is always violent backlash at every major cultural change. Think of the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, Western Expansion, Suffrage, Civil Rights, etc, etc........ It's painful, but seems to be part of the process.

Jon Stewart Slams Bill Bennett On Gay Marriage

rottenseed says...

Choggie, you offer several scenarios that, to you, don't equate to reasons why gay marriage is not recognized in the united states (although you didn't back up why you discounted any of these scenarios). People fear difference. If an idea challenges the values driven by, and only by, whats deemed adequate or normal in reference to social standards, of course that is going to be grounds for bigotry and lack of tolerance. Not because there is some ultimate right or wrong that we all unconciously agree on. Let homosexuality remain a range on the spectrum of sexual fetishes. Although its called a preference, being homosexual is no less chosen than the fact that I like manicured feet and latina women...so why continue criticism on such a natural response as sexual stimuli based soley on how much it varies from your own?
