ThunderCats Opening Remade with CGI

lucky760 says...

That was awesome as hell. *doublepromote

Always loved Thundercats as a kid (along with Silverhawks and Voltron, etc.) and been getting my kids into them as well.

Just saw that they added the original series to Hulu.

Amazing Stories — Official Trailer | Apple TV+

I loved the original series as a kid, and this reboot looks promising. Not promising enough to invest in an Apple tv, but I'm sure it'll eventually be available in some other format...

All Transformers Intros 1984 - 2016

SDGundamX says...

The dates for the original series openings are off. For example, they're listing the 3rd version of the original series opening as from 1984 but it showcases both Unicron and Galvetron, who both made their first appearances in the Transformers feature animated film in 1989.

Similarly, the 2nd version of the original series opening (also dated 1984) showcases Omega Supreme, who doesn't show up until Season 2 (1985-1986) in the U.S.

Also, suggesting the lame Gobots had anything to do with Transformers is fucking NERD HERESY (yes, I am aware Hasbro tried to retcon the Gobots as existing in the Transformers universe)!

Clueless Gamer: "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5"

RedSky says...

Honestly, if it plays like the original series and has some new ideas, I couldn't care less.

Exactly what I was going to say. It looks *terrible*.

Edit: So terrible, dude in the middle had to get extremely high just to be there.

Left Behind - Nicolas Cage Official Trailer #1 (2014)

RFlagg says...

...So the Kirk Cameron series based off the same books wasn't enough they had to remake it? What, because Tim LaHaye, one of the original authors of the books, didn't make enough off the original series? The studio decides to remake it so he can get a better cut?

Of course when the movie is panned for Cage's bad acting or anything else, the Christian right will just point out it is the "liberal media" trying to put down the Christian message and not be an actual review of the film's merits.

I'm surrounded daily by people who believe this stuff. Who believe the election of Obama is a sign of the end of times. When climate change gets to the point even they can't deny it anymore, they'll still deny it is human activity and chalk it up to more proof that we're in the end times and it's just like the Bible said. That this nation (somehow the US is special) is being judged for abortion and homosexuality, the last just like Sodom... of course if you point out that the Bible says that the specific sin of Sodom was being a land of plenty and doing nothing to help the needy and the poor, they just change subjects.

Denzel is... THE EQUALIZER

shang says...

They should have kept a British actor like the original series was old man with insane skills.

Michael Caine would have been perfect since he resembles the original and is British.

Doom - Did You Know Gaming?

RFlagg says...

Yeah. Sort of how All Your History series on Machinima did it... though they seem to have lost it during season 5 when it seemed more like, here's the people who paid us to do a All Your History than anything truly insightful. I keep hoping somebody will take up the banner of All Your History and do it right. Did You Know Gaming and The Game Theorists come close, but lack the feel the original series did.

There are a lot of missed stuff. The video should have been longer or split to have more parts.

30 years later, Season 2 of The Mysterious Cities of Gold

Kreegath says...

I also cried, because I loved that show as a little kid when it aired in my country, watching it together with my siblings as we had an amazing adventure along with the characters of the show every single episode. The reason I'm crying now, however, is because:

Unlike the original series, this sequel is produced entirely in France; as a co-joint venture between the French television channel TF1, the Belgian channel La Trois, the French animation company Blue Spirit and Jean Chalopin's company Movie-Plus Group.
The first of the new seasons sees the series move to China. The design of the characters are more or less the same, although some subtle changes have been made to their physical appearances. Jean Chalopin and Bernard Deyries act as creative consultants on the new series, with Chalopin concentrating particularly on the scripts (which are written by Hadrian Soulez-Lariviere from Chalopin's own draft for the sequel) and Deyries focusing particularly on the graphical aspects. New background music is composed by Noam Kaniel.

It's not the same animation, it's not the same writers, it's not the same setting, it's not the same voice actors and it's not the same memorable music. Nothing's the same. It's the same feeling as with the Star Wars prequels if you can believe it, only with less source material. Maybe our children will enjoy this show without having the nostalgic baggage of "The Mysterious Cities of Gold" series; but for me as a fan of what must be 25 years or more, this just looks unwatchable.
Not everything good is made better by making more of it, and especially after a 30 year period of the series being over and done with. I think that the window of opportunity has passed on making another season of this show by a couple of decades, I think the season they're making looks inferior both in content and quality and I think the people who made the series work so well aren't being emulated, making this creation something akin to a stranger wearing a face mask of the show, something which is copying the names but is completely set apart from "The Mysterious Cities of Gold", with no legs of its own to stand on but only a cheap imitation crutch.

Harrison Ford Won't Answer Star Wars Questions

artician says...

Yeah I'm certainly there with you. I told my girlfriend when we were discussing it that if, IF, they actually managed to get Hamill, Fisher and Ford all staring again, I would give it a shot. Even then I think I'll probably view it like one of your favorite films that becomes a TV show (I personally hate that, it's just shilling). Even if it's "good" good, it won't erase the scars that Ep.1-3 laid on me.
That said, before Ep.1-3 came out, I told myself there was nothing they could do in those films that would ruin the original series for me, and I was wrong about that.

But yeah, you're not alone. The only copies of the original films I own are the LaserDisc rips of the original, non-special edition series (because it's the last, highest quality version you could get before things went downhill permanently). I'm a nazi for respecting source material and lore.

VoodooV said:

am I the only one just not excited at all about the new movies? I just feel certain that they'll fuck it up, or even if it's good, the feel of it will just be so foreign that it won't be Star Wars.

For all of George Lucas' faults, it still just won't be star wars without some hamfisted, bad dialogue.

Arrow opening credits Friends style.

MichaelL says...

Lame. Just the original Friends music overlayed with random shots.

If you watched the original series opening, a lot of the quick cuts were cued to the music...

Star Trek TNG Bluray Old Vs New - Unbelievable Difference

braschlosan says...

I am not ashamed to admit that I will download all of these as lower than blueray quality rips. I would NEVER buy these box sets at full price but would enjoy rewatching the original series in the correct order.

Even a 480p rip of this new edition will look great.

Under the direction of Star Trek producer David Rossi and long-time Star Trek technical consultant Mike Okuda, the visual and special effects were recreated to give Star Trek: The Original Series a more authentic feel and modern look. Special attention was given to such elements as the Enterprise, alien planets and their images depicted from space, planets seen from orbit, alien spacecraft, and technology such as computer readouts, viewscreen images, phaser beams, etc.
