How To Test a AA battery, Easiest Way For Any Battery Fast

LiquidDrift says...

Just tried it with a spent energizer and a spent duracell, and the duracell was more stable even though they were both spent.

Tried it with sunbeam AAA's, one spent, one fully charged, no difference.

The Greatest Yodeler in the World - Franzl Lang

luxury_pie says...

German:

Einen Jodler hör ich gern
aus der Näh und von der Fern
Mit der Lieb' im Herzen drin
Singt ihn jede Sennerin

Darum sing ich jedes Jahr
in die Berge, das ist klar
und ich sing mit frohem Sinn
weil ich dann im Urlaub bin

Extensive Joddeling

So ein Jodler liebe Leut
der bringt Stimmung und macht freut
wie ein heller Sonnenschein
leuchtet er ins Herz hinein

Überall im Alpenland
ist so ein Jodler wohl bekannt
immer wieder sing ich sie
diese Jodler Melodie

Extensive Joddeling

English so-and-so translation:

I like a good Jodler
from near and far away
With love in her heart
it is sung by every Sennerin

That's why I sing every year
in the mountains, that is clear
and I sing with great rejoice
because I'm on vacation, yo!

Extensive Joddeling

Such a Jodler, dear folks
is quite entertaining and enjoyable
like a bright sunbeam
he shines into your heart

Everywhere in the alps
a Jodler like this is very well known
Time and time again I sing
this Jodler melody

Extensive Joddeling again.

Feel free to add any rhyming structure.

Late to the party, I know, but hey good for you! What are we celebrating again? I just read the last ten comments.

Something about a new Queen (England?) that approves of yarn and catnip and sunbeams?!? What's the deal with this tiara being mentioned? Also, what the hell is up with all the extra ssses (plural form unsure) in the comments?

PS: Congrats!!!

A few reasons why I love our planet

BicycleRepairMan says...

... Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there - on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors, so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light.

Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.

The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.

It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.

-Carl Sagan

What were you thinking when you first saw this?

Trancecoach says...

when i first saw this sequence, i felt like a cat that had just settled down to lay in a sunbeam only to feel the sun disappear behind clouds, leaving me with just a bit of a chill. A chill that wouldn't abate until the death star was destroyed and justice was restored to the Republic.

Apocalypto Now

rickegee says...

Mel has always struck me as an Old Testament lover, rather than a guitar- and-sunbeams youth minister Jesus guy. The Passion is either a radical Catholic Old Testament interpretation of the crucifixion or a failed attempt at a zombie movie.

I saw the remake of Dawn of the Dead and the Passion as a fun double feature. My heart was filled with blood.
