I was actually curious, so looked it up. In the wild they spend much of their time completely submersed, they just open their mouths and let fish clean... pretty much everything out.

A quick search tells me that this is a model of a hotel ship, intended to be moored next to offshore platforms as a replacement for semi-submersible vessels. Stability is a requirement to ensure the safety of the connection between the platform and the ship itself.

Apparently, those waves are generated inside U-shaped compartments (side-bottom-side) within the hull of the ship, with air valves on top as a regulator for the motion of the water.

I wonder how much weight you have to transfer around to counteract the pitch and roll, how much energy it takes to initiate and maintain/control the interior waves and if malfunctioning valves could actually destabilize the ship.

All I need is my flying/submersible tank and and a parachute and I'm straight.

Some require huge dockside rail cranes and another heavy lift vessel is semi-submersible and cargo is floated into position while lowered and raised with pumps.
