NDT Explains Why 2023 Climate Models Failed

newtboy says...

More explanation of why the proposed “solutions” are not really solutions or even feasible at all, they’re pernicious pablum.

Yes, it’s much worse than they’re telling you, well beyond the point of no return, and we aren’t even trying to be better yet.
Every study of actual data shows the climate is reacting faster than predicted to higher greenhouse gasses and feedback loops are in full effect in many areas of the planet, feedback loops not included in most climate models.
There is only one solution that works with all models…eliminate 95% of the human population. Since that’s a non starter, accept that civilization as we know it, and most animals are doomed. It’s the roaches’ time soon.

Recent studies have shown that taking hydroxychloroquine/chloroquine for covid as Trump suggested had absolutely zero positive effect and in fact caused 11% higher mortality. Over 17000 people died because they took it that would have survived covid without it.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S075333222301853X

This is what listening to idiots spouting nonsense gets you…on top of much higher (45%) rates of covid and death because you people still won’t get vaccinated.

https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/covid-19/political-party-affiliation-linked-excess-covid-deaths

Trump policies caused a 40% increase in infections and deaths in America, hundreds of thousands of victims and trillions in losses we could have avoided with real leadership like other countries enjoyed.

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/trumps-policy-failures-have-exacted-a-heavy-toll-on-public-health1/

Meanwhile Trump has instructed his cultists to show up and vote for him, even if you are so sick it would kill you to do it, as long as you vote for him first that’s what you’ve gotta do, die for Trump. Yes, he did say that. Your life is worth far less than your vote to him.

The Biggest Science Story of the Week

newtboy says...

*doublepromote someone else finally noticing global dimming as a significant factor in global warming.

Global dimming from excess sulfur dioxide may be responsible for cutting the current excess anthropogenic heat in the system by between 15% to 50% depending on the study.
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/13/what-is-solar-geoengineering-sunlight-reflection-risks-and-benefits.html
What this means is, if we stop polluting tomorrow, the CO2 and other greenhouse gases will continue to warm us at the same rate for decades to centuries, but the sulfur dioxide that has blocked between .25 to 2 degrees Celsius temperature rise will be gone almost immediately, and a significant sudden rise in temp will be the result kicking off or feeding more feedback loops.

While it may seem he’s onto some global warming solution…just put more sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere…that ignores the lower growth rates and lost solar production it causes by deflecting a significant percentage of sunlight, both adding to net CO2 added to the system.
The incredibly scary part is the whitehouse and other international governments are actively researching ways to inject sulfur dioxide into the upper atmosphere despite knowing it has so many issues.

There’s no easy fix.

Ex-CDC Director suddenly kept out of the Covid loop

newtboy says...

Disgraced Trumpist lies about history, science, and his actions/statements.

Morons think this is evidence of something besides Trump’s utterly disastrous covid response, praising China and Xi and completely denying COVID’s dangers, needlessly costing a minimum of 500000 American lives and trillions of dollars wasted according to his own appointees.

What the report she mischaracterized said was genetic studies had PROVEN the virus was not genetically modified or “created” by any known unnatural process, (a conspiracy theory the right tried to float) so the theory that it had been CREATED in a lab was proven false. Banana republicans are too dumb or dishonest to make that clear.

What they also love to ignore is the eradication of our international pandemic response teams that had been stationed in countries world wide including China before Trump closed their offices, and they would have been on scene in September when the first cases were discovered not only to definitively identify the source, but to start efforts to combat it 8 months earlier that the Trump administration did. That could have completely prevented the pandemic, and would have offered the opportunity to properly respond well before it came to America, saving well over a million American lives and up to $16 TRILLION dollars.

Too bad Banana republicans have such selective memories. It make any discussion with them a fight over reality, because they always deny reality and history and think their conspiratorial fantasy holds more weight than scientific facts.

Edit: downvoted into oblivion in under an hour! Good job sift.
This type of history rewriting propaganda has no place anywhere, especially in congress, and should be plucked like a weed and burned with fire every time it pokes itself above ground.
Pedal your silly propaganda on Toth Senchal where it’s not just accepted it’s celebrated.

ROTFLMFAHS!!
Sydney Powell’s best evidence in her big lie tour, a self described “internally decapitated semi conscious time traveler” that saw semi conscious visions (dreams) of proof of the fraud in the future and wrote an affidavit to that effect.
Fox made great mention of this “evidence” while hiding that it was an affidavit from an internally decapitated semi conscious time traveler’s future visions/certified crazy person.

This is what they got you to believe. This is what they used to foment a coup, with your full support. This is what they are still selling you, and you still buy.

But what should we expect from the cult that thinks seditious traitor MTG is patriotic when she suggests secession because Biden visited Ukraine.

BTW, studies show that divided by county, the counties that voted for Biden are responsible for 71% of Americas economic activity while those that went to Trump are responsible for only 29%. It’s going to be pretty shitty in your shithole country if you split from the blue states, you will be looking at Cuba with envy. Please, oh please split off. America will be much better off without all the red welfare states that only take money and contribute division. The south shall fall again!

Steve Jobs on Death - The best 4 mins you will ever spend

cloudballoon says...

More unspoken gems from Jobs: Steal all the credits of the people working under you. Never recognize the people that helped you at your hours of need. And never, EVER, acknowledge your failures. Shaemlessly brand all your barely minium-wage earning, freshly out-of-high-schoolers of a staff Geniuses. Marketing the shit out of your middling products like they're bleeding edge tech. Throttle the F out of your products to force people upgrade and create necessary enrionmental hazzards. I can list 5~10x more problems but I'll stop.

For me, the only thing the life of Steve Jobs that's worth studying is his firm grasp of the people's susceptibility to Marketing.

Artemis launch to the moon

newtboy says...

My uncle worked at NASA…he was in charge of all the Apollo moon rocks, allocating them for study, did the cutting of them with a Diamond saw, and later curated the collection for decades. He also helped train the Apollo astronauts on geology so they could collect interesting and new samples and not more of what we already had.
He was also my dad’s roommate at Stanford.
I wonder if he had anything to do with the encased rock….the photo is too low grade to see exactly what you’re talking about.

BSR said:

While waiting for the launch of Artemis they switched to a segment where they showed a moon rock encased in (glass?) It also appears as something else is also encased with it.

Professional economist here (hence, perceived as right wing) who began studying economics due to concern about climate change (hence, perceived as left wing).

[1] The classic statement of when markets 'work' is the 'first fundamental theorem of welfare economics'.

[2] 'work' in this sense means 'leads to a Pareto-optimal outcome', which means an outcome in which no one can be made better off without making someone worse off. This is a low standard: an outcome in which I have everything is Pareto-optimal.

[3] the conditions for the welfare theorems are generally not satisfied in practice. Here, as alluded to in the ad, carbon emissions are 'externalities': if an oil company sells you gas, which you then use, both of you are better off, because you're assumed to have taken into account the effects of your exchange, and decided to proceed; other parties have not, so may be worse off.

[4] in general, failure of the welfare theorem conditions isn't enough to make the case for government intervention: the outcome may still be 'constrained' efficient - meaning that, given the inherent constraints in the problem (e.g. asymmetric information), the market outcome is Pareto efficient.

[5] again, even if it is, you may not like the particular constrained efficient outcome the market yields (e.g. I get everything).

[6] in the case of externalities, the theory is pretty well established - if we want efficient outcomes, we need to align the private and social costs. There are two basic market-based tools for doing that: quantity tools (e.g. carbon permits) and price tools (e.g. carbon taxes). Which performs better depends on the sort of market imperfections.

[7] obviously, we will never have a perfect estimate of the efficient price or quantity of carbon to emit in a given year. Equally obviously, to me at least, this is a classic case of an externality with a well developed body of theory pointing in the direction of some level of controls.

[8] in my experience: people familiar with the economic theory tend not to be 'pro-market' or 'anti-market': they tend to want to understand how the market can be used to deliver societal objectives and, when it can't, how to correct its imperfections.

Viral transmission not tested in Pfizer trials

spawnflagger says...

Just because transmissibility-reduction-effectiveness wasn't studied before the (emergency use authorization) release of the vaccine doesn't mean that it wasn't also (somewhat) effective at doing that, but just became known after-the-fact because of a much larger "study" (the general population).
The point of the pre-release studies was to determine how effective it was at preventing severe-disease and hospitalization, and those were the numbers evaluated for the EUA decision (at least in USA)
I don't know who this politician is, but seems to be trying hard to create scandal and controversy. And sure, he did uncover a lie by government officials, sort of (preventing yourself from getting sick to the point of shedding less virus does help others around you too), if they made those statements and marketing materials before such data existed to back it up.
Maybe pfizer did make those claims before the EU rollout? That wasn't shown or discussed in this video, even though it would have helped his argument by presenting that.

Certainly I agree that the phrase "speed of science" is content-less, because the scientific method doesn't define speed. The time-to-marketable-solution might be a better measurement, and that largely depends on how much money you throw at a problem.

"IT'S CALLED SHUT THE F*CK UP": Officer Has Had Enough

kir_mokum says...

"Two studies have found that at least 40 percent of police officer families experience domestic violence, in contrast to 10 percent of families in the general population. A third study of older and more experienced officers found a rate of 24 percent, indicating that domestic violence is two to four times more common among police families than American families in general."

and this dude for sure hits someone in his family.

Tesla BLOWS AWAY Expectations. (Q2 2022 Recap )

luxintenebris says...

please. communist?

think about this: one of the cons of communism is if one person is getting all the benefits of working as not working - incentive is nixed.

w/all the mergers of segments of the business world - oil, media suppliers, etc - the effect mirrors communism. w/o serious competition, these companies have less incentive to improve products, increase efficiency, or reduce consumer costs.

to wit: most of the conservative policies are closer to communism than ideas like trust-busting, fair employee compensation, reasonable taxation for high earners, etc.

most of the 'progressive' ideas would spur capitalism, thus the blue is more about the green than the red is about keeping markets stable and healthy.

prefer the idea of regulated capitalism over death through fascism.

what led to '08?

anyway...if you're money is on Tesla*, good luck. good to see a body putting their money where their mouth is. and great to see you in favor of moving away from fossil fuels. investing in the future.

if we can get there.

FYI: interesting article about the marketing of tesla
https://melmagazine.com/en-us/story/tesla-masculinity-study?utm_source=digg
from the skinny on the CEO, it is an absolute match.

BTW: keeping up w/the Jan 6 spankings? hard to buy the love of a loon, versus the safety of a nation. shakes a person to the core. all those serene conservatives w/o one iota of spine. if this is your idea of quality leadership - no Tesla stock is gonna fill the void of losing a homeland
