Hawthorne, CA Cop murdered a pet

Issykitty says...

I don't wish for anything but for you to stop being all angsty. You are missing the whole point in that I do not interpret the video in the same way as the press release, therefore I do not agree with you. It's okay. Life goes on, snarky ass comments and all. On the other hand, I think your tone is douchey and condescending in nature, even though I can see the good points you are making through that but that's just my opinion, and I'm probably tired and oversensitive to the fact that this is an upsettting fucking video. I'm out.

You're missing the whole point. You are intent on this idea that the cops are are to blame in any way for this. They are not. They did not bring the dog, they did not fail to restrain the dog. They did not place the dog in a situation where the dog became aggressively defensive. The owner of the dog did all of these things. The points you "conceded" were never points I was arguing. The cops will not be "in a shitload of trouble" because they acted in the best interest of their safety.

If you wish me to stop being all "he wins the internet" then stop being a snarky ass and declaring that I "win" when I moderately challenge you by presenting evidence (or rather mxxcon does) that confirms the exact shit I just said.

But if you want to keep focusing on the fact that you win at the internets, then by all means...

Top DHS checkpoint refusals

Jaer says...

While I don't think these checkpoints do anything other than irritate people, it is already approved and supported by the Supreme court. The decisions covered these particular checkpoints (called Interior Checkpoints), sobriety checkpoints, and pretty much all others as constitutional.

Secondly, while the person in the video does have a right to refuse to answer, his tone didn't help the situation. I'm sure if he had said "Yes, I'm a citizen" and showed an ID, he would've been on his way in 1/10th the time it took him to sit and complain to the officers. All that he was doing was raising suspicion on himself by constantly holding a snarky tone toward the officers.

Why Celebrity Apprentice Sucks Away Your Willpower

MilkmanDan says...

OK, this clip was quite interesting once I actually got around to watching it. I skipped it several times because although I like Penn Jillette, I hate reality TV and have less than zero interest in "Celebrity Apprentice" or whatever else.

So, I was tempted to just reply with a snarky "it certainly does suck" (referring to Celebrity Apprentice / Reality TV in general) without even watching the clip. Glad I didn't do that, so here's a sheepish upvote to compensate for my near faux pas.

Canada Takes Zombie Invasion Dead Serious

Zero Punctuation: The Cave

Fletch says...

If you can't watch it, let me fill you in... pretentious British game reviewer, and Australian resident, waxes snarky about said games in Powerpointesque internet videos that, for some reason, many viewers find entertaining, even though they all contain the same recycled shtick over and over. Apparently, fans are so enraptured by his worldly accent and monotone, comma-bereft delivery that they don't care that they can't even tell whether he liked the game or not.

TYT - Mosque Arsonist Says Fox News Inspired Him

chingalera says...

All broadcast news is slanted, illusive, and agenda-oriented. There is always a bias and any "report" always contains some truth, some falsehood, and some meaningless filler. In the creature of Cenk you have a screaming agenda and a shitload of meaningless filler, in the form of snarky attitude and sophomoric editorializing....Thinking.....basically, non-critically-thinking people with a relatively programmed subjective view of their world tend to enjoy this type of stroking. Cenks' no different than Alex Jones in tactics: He simply lights on a different brand of flaming subject matter...One that appeals to people who think they have a clue what the fuck is going on

VideoSift 5.0 bugs go here. (Sift Talk Post)

Fletch says...

Not a lengthy description, just a clearer description. Hovering over Cult shows "CultSift". Dark shows "Dark". Military (although pretty self-explanatory) shows "Army, Navy And The Air Force". No Marines? News shows "What's Fit to Sift". Huh? Philosophy, for some reason, pops up "Philosophical Society". Mystery is still a mystery. WTF goes in WTF? Debunked helpfully returns "The Debunked Channel". Some of the channels are obvious, but many of the pop-ups are confusing or just parrot the name of the channel.

If lengthier, yet still concise pop-ups are not an option, at least link to a page that does list each channel and briefly and clearly details the types of videos the channel welcomes. The current link that tentative channel assigners are encouraged to refer to "before selecting any channels" (the FAQ link) is a dead end and no help whatsoever.

I would appreciate not having to go to every channel and read the description there just to make proper channel assignments for a single damn video. It seems making VS easier to use and navigate for new members and potential new members isn't a primary concern these days, but I'm sure they would appreciate it as well. Sorry if that sounds snarky.

Just to save posting another comment... I still can't see who's got their ass planted in Sift Lounge without having to join (although they're usually of the same lot of 5-10 cliquies).

What is "updated/clear pop-ups" on channels? If you're suggesting we display the full channel description in the hover text, that's not very feasible.
