Dumbest Guy Ever or Why I Never Watch "Reality" TV

00Scud00 says...

>> ^Skeeve:

This makes me sick. Call me a heartless bastard, but people like this, and the people who celebrate that kind of ignorance, need to be dumped into the ocean.
There is no excuse for that kind of ignorance coming from someone in the "first world".

Will we give them a stay of execution if they can identify which ocean they're about to be dumped into?

Dumbest Guy Ever or Why I Never Watch "Reality" TV

blocked in the UK :*(

Perhaps its just as well. The actual idea of Big Brother, ie forcing people who wouldn't ordinarily socialise into living with each other and monitoring their interactions, is actually quite interesting imo. The problem with Reality Television is that its not Reality. The aim is entertainment, so they pick extreme personalities that are likely to create conflict and drama, and the very nature of television attracts fame-hounds with a vacuum where their brain should be. I suppose what annoys me is that people watch it at all, and then those very same complain about the state our little Island is in. No fucking shit, stop watching garbage television, or at least change the Channel to BBCNews and get some REAL reality TV.

I don't enjoy celebrity news, reality TV, chain stores, or trendy Apple products either. But I also don't feel any pressure to do so. At least, not from anyone other than advertisers. And who cares what advertisers think of you?

Shocking Police Behaviour OccupyMELBOURNE!

Yeah, I have to ask what is so shocking. When the cop in NYC maced the girl who was already behind the police net and offering no resistance, I would call that shocking. Based on this edited video these police officers LOOK TO BE dispersing people who refused to disperse after being ordered to.
Of course you have to yank or drag someone who goes limp or links arms and refuses to cooperate. How else do you move someone like that from point A to point B? And the woman screaming at :08 comes across more like someone freaking out and resisting rather than someone actually being hurt by the police.
We all should know by now the magic of video editing can leave out all context, reality TV is based on it. This comes across more like a viral ad for The Herald Sun than some shocking footage of police overreaction.

As far as Australian law goes (pretty sure the US is similar), the cops are allowed to use equal and proportionate force to complete their duties. I don't see truncheons, I don't see pepper spray, I don't see stun guns/tasers, people being slammed face first in to the ground etc.

Yes, people have a right to protest, but with rights come responsibilities. As far as public opinion goes, these guys might have garnered more sympathy if our banking sector had emulated Wall St's screw ups. How unfortunate for them that Australia didn't trigger the GFC or even suffer that badly because of it... \8 |

Lack Of Skilled Workers Is Cause Of Unemployment

raverman says...

It's also culture... We have no heroes or role models who ever worked hard to achieve greatness.

Our TV is filled with reality TV shows that almost prove that the way to be a Top Chef or exec in Trump enterprises is to have it given to you , not work and study for it.

We've allowed anything but fame and glory to be seen as a demeaning failure.

Hilarious Taxidermy TV Commercial

Loose, Coke Head, Bad Parent, Bully---Sara Palin 2012!!!

ponceleon says...

Yeouch.

For me the most telling thing about Palin isn't all the crap she has said, but rather the fundamental fact that once she was nominated, she basically abandoned Alaska to become a celebrity/reality-tv show star.
