Sympathy for Lady Vengeance - trailer
oldboy is the SHIT!
Ichi the killer (NSFW)
>> ^DarkSavior:
the hanging from the hooks made me cringe.
If you think that's bad enough, wait till they get to the oil.
It's an extremely violent movie, which I usually dislike, but it's so over the top that it's hard to take seriously - even though it's always presented seriously. I really thought the movie had some interesting things to say amid the violence, and I don't think it could've been said without it.
As for Oldboy, I never got to it, but I saw the first part of the trilogy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, and it seemed rather pointless to me. The only thing I got out of it was the way it played with my (and I assume most people's) tendency to pick sides in conflicts, but I don't feel the violence necessarily added to the message. I guess I should give Oldboy a try, though.
But then again, I find life depressing enough without constantly inundating myself with this stuff...
Sympathy for Lady Vengeance - trailer
I really wanted to like this movie (and there were a lot of awesome things about it), but it took such a simple, seemingly foolproof premise and made it ridiculously convoluted. Oldboy had that same problem, but to a much lesser degree.
Hero - trailer
I guess Sarzy from a business stand point you're right for it being"successful" but movies like Oldboy and Battle Royal dont really have an American audience but they are still awesome movies, better than Hero actually in my opinion though different.

Yeh, it says that in the comments already, that Justin Lim isn't involved anymore. But someone else might still do it...

wow, guess what. I contacted my friend and asked what it was, and he told me it IS Oh-dae-su.
And I was wrong about it being 7 some odd years. It's more like 3 some odd years. My friend confirmed it. I thought the movie OldBoy was a recent release (2006), but turns out it was made in 2003. So it checks out!
You were right all along!
A foreigner outsmarting me in my own heritage... I dishonor my fellow Asians

Oh Wow! Call it a coincidence but that picture on my avatar is hand drawn by my friend some 7 odd years ago before the movie was made.
It resembles my personal image as an unkempt scruffy Asian with a softspot for food
I guess all Asians DO look alike haha

Your avatar, I think, is 오대수, the lead character in the Korean movie Oldboy. In that picture, he's eating dragon 만두. It's a freaky movie, if you haven't seen it.

Most of it made sense except for these two things.
oh-dae-su (오대수)? Sounds like a typical Korean man's name.
dragon dumplings (만두)?
Old Boy - Trailer
This film is one of a "vengeance trilogy" by director Chan Wook Park.
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002)
Oldboy (2003)
Lady Vengeance (2005)
I still have to see "Lady Vengeance". "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" is very bloody.
