Tesla Demo of Tesla Bot GEN 2

spawnflagger says...

IANAL but I think internal prototype names can be anything - it's only if they bring it to market that there could be some chance of consumer "confusion".
I'm still waiting to see the lawsuit from Microsoft, who has owned the "X" trademark for many years.
Also, Elon has been promising such a robot for years - at least it's not a human in a robot costume this time... but could easily be CG. I'll believe it when I see some 3rd party people putting it through its paces. (yes, I was skeptical of the Boston Dynamics videos as well until they let others in to film)

newtboy said:

I hope Hasbro and Takara Tomy and Paramount and Dreamworks made them pay through the nose for using their IP, but my guess is Elon just did it without permission.
I can find no press release or documentation that Tesla bought the rights to Bumblebee or Optimus Prime or any transformers robots. Looks like theft.

Hasbro and Takara Tomy and Paramount should sue the pants off of him for blatantly stealing their IP for advertising purposes.

Fuck you Elon, you’re a thief and a liar.

‘This is not a zoo’: Biden administration blocks filming

newtboy says...

LMFAHS!!!! Bobby? That is you, isn't it? This is the kind of total non sequitur, irrational, fact free, second grade level "argument" I expect from you. Not sure why you quoted me, you didn't address a single point I made with your rambling rant.

The delusion and lack of self awareness is strong with this one.

Sorry, there's no cult of Biden. Democrats still have functioning brains, unlike Trumpists who believe eating fresh babies make people younger and gives them magic powers, that vaccines have invisible Microsoft microchips that will take over their brains so George Soros can force them to become transsexual communists, and that when you lose an election the patriotic thing to do is stage a deadly coup. The right lost it's mind in 2015 and has never seen a doctor.

If Biden shot someone in cold blood, Democrats would demand prosecution and ostracize him. When Trump said it, he meant it, and the crowd of magamorons cheered in unanimous agreement. Derp?

Not a bit sure what you mean by linking an article about Biden considering completing some of the useless fencing Trump replaced existing barriers with. No surprise, most of the "wall" Trump brags about replaced existing barriers, many more functional than his fence design that is just gawd awful, easy to push down and drive trucks through and that can't even stand up in wind, but also weren't completed and often ended up being maybe 100 yards of fence, then 20 yards of nothing, then another 100 yards of fence, then more gaps, etc. Those unfinished repair/replacement projects are worthless wastes of billions if not finished, and often made the border more porous, not more secure, because they replaced functional (if imperfect) barriers. You think you have some point to make because Biden is considering finishing those projects to at least fix the holes Trump left, and plans to fund them legally through congress not by illegal executive orders taking money earmarked by congress for military family housing and handing it to his donors brand new construction companies for no bid contracts like Trump did, against court orders no less? I just don't know what you think that means, how it's a bad thing Biden is doing by not just ignoring problems created by the ineptitude of the previous administration but instead being presidential, or how it defends Trump's disastrous record, which seems to be your objective.

Hmmmm.....more snowflake tears, yummy.

Donald Trump: 'I Could ... Shoot Somebody, And I Wouldn't Lose Any Voters'

The exact same could be said about Biden, and you morons would argue at least it wasn't Trump...

Biden's quote would be more like : Hmheenmeh shoot mehehenhebu 120 years in senate boobolblb watch hair rise meheh sniff sniff.

You Americans are really the entertainers of the world. Mabe you guy's should stop being clowns and become mimes, then atleast you would shut up for a change.

Goodyear

wtfcaniuse says...

Remember when Trump blocked Amazon's military deal because he didn't like Bezos? Was Amazon a better option than Microsoft? We will never know because the tender process was bypassed by an idiot.

He doesn't need reasons for anything he does, it's all emotionally reactive BS. His supporters just spin it however they can to make it seem justified.

Those Trumpers, All lives and Blue lives matter supporters working at goodyear will no doubt be proud of Trump when they're out of the job because at least it was done to support them right?

Prove Apple wrong about data recovery and get banned

bobknight33 says...

ITS YOUR DATA - it is up to the owner to back up their data. Not Apple,, Dell, Microsoft etc.

Jessa Jones is doing great work. However it is not a services that Apple cares to market in. So she and the like flourish. Its not Apples job to help her.

At 4:16-- is a sexist BS statement.

Part of me feels this is an incredibly cynical marketing move, but that part is overridden by the rest of me applauding Microsoft for doing something fucking awesome.

Dave Grohl's Short Film, 'How I Ended Up In Seattle'

SFOGuy says...

tech changed it; I mean, just think: Amazon and Microsoft.
And Seattle just passed a payroll tax against Amazon's wishes to try and pay for some of the services the voters think the homeless folks need (there's an effect from gentrification in this case).

At the end, he wishes Seattle would "take him back". I think he means the Seattle of the 90s. It's a lot different now, thanks to Corporate America discovering there's money to be vacuumed up.

Steve Jobs Foretold the Downfall of Apple!

notarobot says...

Apple still makes some good products, but their competition has had plenty of time to catch up. I mean look at the Microsoft Surface commercial that came out the day before last year's Macworld. It's everything that a modern iMac should be, but the basic design of the iMac hasn't changed in 5+ years.

Oh, and about Apple still having some decent products, iTunes isn't one of them.

Apple spoof of Microsoft leaves audience in stitches.

TheFreak says...

To be fair:

Microsoft made a better OS for integrated work computers than Apple.

Apple made a better phone device than Microsoft.

Android based smartphone manufacturers made better phone devices than both Microsoft and Apple.

All of the above have been massive technology innovators who have earned their market shares.

Choosing one over the other for a specific purpose is sometimes a practical choice, sometimes a lifestyle choice and sometimes just a matter of familiarity. If one choice seems cooler than the others to you, then that's a reflection of your criteria when making a choice and doesn't reflect on anyone else's choices.

But...to be fair...Apple figured out how to create a handheld/phone way the heck better than Microsoft did...at least for the last decade.

When Windows 10 makes you racist

CrushBug says...

I hear you, and would have completely agreed with you, right up until Windows 10 restarted for an update in the middle of me playing a full-screen game. Apparently it was a similar message as what he had, but I couldn't see it behind the game. So that sucked.

That was before the Creator's Update, back when my Windows "active hours" were deemed too long by Microsoft standards, which is just crap. That is fixed now.

I keep my machine updated, but it seems like my work environment has more control over Windows updates than I do as a home user (running Win 10 Pro).

ChaosEngine said:

To be fair, this isn't actually a problem, unless you're an idiot like this guy. I've been running Windows 10 since it came out and never once HAD to shut down in the middle of something to install an update.

That said, you shouldn't switch from OSX for the same reason I won't switch TO osx.... change cost.

Even these days, switching to another ecosystem is still going to cost you weeks of time, so unless there's an incredibly compelling reason to switch, there's just no point.

Exactly what does he want anti-trust enforcement on?

He makes a great case for historical anti-trust cases (AT&T, IBM, Microsoft, etc) but he doesn't really specify who he wants to enforce anti-trust against or what it is that they're doing?

Kurzgesagt: Are GMOs Good or Bad?

bamdrew says...

Monsanto is like Microsoft... they are these hulking titans of their respective industries, who work as hard as they can to stay ahead of the game, sometimes through questionable activities. However, their contributions on the whole are incredible, driving generations of progress in their respective fields through investment, research, and release of progressively more useful tools (on the whole).

There is a similar debate regarding pharmaceutical companies and their profiteering from the invention of life saving drugs... its easy to paint a company as a 'bad guy' for charging large amounts of money for medicine that a person needs to live. But is it the company's responsibility to forgo shareholder profits in order to maximally help more people with their drug, or is it the spectrum of regulations imposed by a representative government that should be entrusted with that responsibility?

GMO agriculture products that are drought tolerant, flood tolerant, self pollenating, etc etc, will likely save our buns in the next 100 years. If anything we should be doubling down on how much effort we put into GMO production and selection, to help drive a technological boom in that industry before we've mismanaged ourselves into a crisis.
