The Documented Truth About Trump Collusion and Obstruction

BSR says...

I took the liberty of removing misleading statements in your comment so as to leave the truth you speak about Hollywood.

It doesn't matter, none of it matters. Treason, fraud, sexual assault, ...

The political brain-washing of the masses began a long time ago to consolidate the interests of the ones who are already in power and already possess the wealth.

They learned that we're all susceptible to confirmation bias

But what was revealed behind the facade is not surprising. Just the same power hungry, wealth elite manipulating the uneducated to vote against their own interests...same as it ever was.

Nothing really matters -Freddie Mercury
Nothing else matters -Metallica
...same as it ever was -Talking Heads

And the men who hold high places
Must be the ones who start
To mold a new reality
Closer to the heart
Closer to the heart -Rush

More cowbell -Christopher Walken

Yeaaah!
Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss -The Who

All alone, or in two's
The ones who really love you
Walk up and down outside the wall
Some hand in hand
And some gathered together in bands
The bleeding hearts and the artists
Make their stand -Pink Floyd

This is now a "As seen on TV kind of country." -Bill Maher

-So many people have never really heard the Beatles.-

Nothing you can say, but you can learn how to play the game
It's easy.

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one

2 black dudes-1 iconic metal song

MilkmanDan says...

Nice sift @enoch!

I discovered these guys a while ago on YT also. I don't usually care about watching reaction / review videos, but these guys are great. They are so enthusiastic and honest that it is almost like hearing the songs again for the first time myself.

Their reactions to Holy Wars (Megadeth), Master of Puppets, and One (both Metallica) are awesome for the thrash lover in me. And for other stuff, their vids for Killing in the Name (RATM), Digital Bath (Deftones), and Lateralus (Tool) are also all great.

MESHUGGAH - CLOCKWORKS

shagen454 says...

Yeah, Meshuggah aren't huge in America for some reason and I always see people say "I listened to this over the years and then I came back to it and it clicked". It isn't something most people are going to "get" right off the bat.

No doubt, Meshuggah will click for people once Metallica takes them on tour later next year, lol. But, it's funny how many metalheads, many hipster mathrock people, etc etc, do not like Meshuggah, when in my eyes they are the best at both math and metal.

Don't like the music, but like the visual. It reminds me of the demo scenes!

New Metallica song - Moth into flame

noims says...

Agreed. I heard a song of theirs on the radio the other day and spent a lot of the song trying to identify it. It was obviously Metallica, and sounded like their old stuff, so I thought it might have been off Garage Days or something I didn't know that well.

Was pleasantly surprised to hear it's off the new album. Obviously the better production didn't shine through the crap car radio and traffic noise.

That verse riff is pretty classic 80stallica.

I'm not sold on the chorus, but it's certainly more interesting than anything they've done for a while.

Epic bridge and absolutely monster tone and production!!

Solo needs more wah pedal though

*quality choice of tunes to cover

BTW, for non-musicians, the songs they're covering here are easily Metallica's most technically difficult, with a lot of timing changes.

Calvin & Hobbes - Art before Commerce

MilkmanDan says...

@Zawash -- all true. And yet, just because Calvin and Hobbes and Bill Watterson are/were awesome, it doesn't make IP and copyright rules any more sensible.

My opinion: those respectful and well-done parodies and homages (say, Pants are Overrated's Hobbes and Bacon) are fair use. The person/people that drew Calvin peeing on things? Fair use also. There is a big difference between "tasteless" and "should be illegal".

Selling car decals with those images is different, because then you're treading all over the "not for profit" element of fair use. However, tracking down tons of small-scale infringers on that, or even worse, average people who simply buy the decals/shirts/whatever and likely don't know or care to know about IP and copyright laws is ... a losing battle at best, and punitive towards *fans* of the IP at worst.

There are many many examples of going to idiotic (IMO) lengths to protect IP. Disney suing local bakeries for drawing some character in icing on top of a kids birthday cake. Metallica suing Napster, University internet hosts, and even individual downloaders of their music. Teachers being sued for playing a clip of a TV show, movie, or song as part of their lessons. Etc. etc.

At some level, copyright is a good thing. Or at least a necessary evil. But the litigious zeal with which IP and copyright are "protected" these days seems like we've lost sight of the "art before commerce" element that is a huge part of why Calvin and Hobbes was so awesome. And why IP is something worth protecting (within sensible limits).
