Lip-syncing only works when you can hear the backing track
>> ^ctrlaltbleach:
Right? So what if you only sound good from 25 takes pasted together in a studio with different filters to disguise the rest of it and people are so use to hearing commercialized recordings that a live musician would sound horrible to their ears.
Even worse who cares that if you have been on the road for months singing night after night until your voice is destroyed. People will still believe you can sing after you get on stage sounding like a live version of Bob Dylan.
>> ^NaMeCaF:
I dont see any point in lip-syncing what so ever. Anyone can sit there and and pretend to play the guitar and move their lips. Why not just perform it?
And this is exactly my problem. If you need 25 takes pasted together in a studio with different filters, you shouldn't be performing live at all. Play a fucking clip. It's bullshit. It's no different than Milli Vanilli. It aint really their voice/performance, but they lip synch to it and pretend it is.
Think about it. Would you be happy paying to see a live football match when instead you just get an edited replay?

And the weeks fly by and the years roll on...

Normally I hate livemusic... But this was great--for livemusic of course.
This is not only a live version, but acoustic. You should also check out the album version.
Kitten pics and Meow Meow Lullaby
Posting it was actually an attempt to get the song out of my head! The kittens are an experiment... I have another, live, version to dump in the queue tomorrow, and if this one goes nowhere by then I'll stuff it in the discard closet >> ^rottenseed:
upvote for the song.
Dog barks at video of himself barking at video of a dog
They should do a live version like those mirrors.

Great song - nice live version.>> ^Ornthoron:
Happy birtday, Siftler! I always enjoy your musings about the relationship between technology and humanity, even though I for some reason get this song on my brain every time:

Alan Parsons Project - Eye in the Sky
Totally valid gripe. I didn't want to have to submit this embed, but couldn't find a better non-live version... Just did more digging and did find a better one. Embed replaced. Still not perfect, but not so annoying.

I'm really torn on this one, I love this song, but... The video is really pretty bad. Half a dozen stills, one rather nifty 20 second clip, and one ever-present credit (with no credit at all for the music). Feels almost like trying to steal the credit for the only real work here.
I'll upvote just for the song, I guess.
Give A Little Love - Noah And The Whale

Thank you very much. I understand the reticence. It is such that there is come music I wish to have represented on the Sift to which there is either no video or, if there is, is renditionally inferior. I'm glad you enjoyed the song and thank you very much for the link. I saved the page and am listening to the song for the fourth time. It is another one of my favorites of hers and has been too long unheard.
Frankly, there are a number of the vids that I have submitted for which I expected few if any votes but were voted for out of the kindness and generosity of fellow Sifters. I hope at least some if not all that voted for them found enjoyment and or interest in them. That has been, is, and will be my primary motivation for my submissions on the Sift.
Happy Sifting. I look forward to seeing you around.
Namaste.

That is why I flagged it dead for the original submitter to fix it which didn't happen.
>> ^geo321:
Man you missed my point. Even if a video is dead and you present a live version of that video the original takes precedent.
In reply to this comment by ant:
I know that, but it wasn't fixed earlier.
In reply to this comment by geo321:
We can fix the videos. We can bring the first posted video alive and well.
In reply to this comment by ant:
Yes. But why have the first one alive if it is dead?
In reply to this comment by geo321:
But even if the original video is dead, the later is still a dupe right?
In reply to this comment by ant:
Only if the original video is fixed/working. It seems like it is now is!
In reply to this comment by geo321:
I thought the consensus was that if you posted a video first, even if it's dead, it takes precedent...and the secondary vid is a dupe.. Sometimes it will take a bit of time if it's dead. Those have been the rules I've been going by,.. You've been here longer than I have are those rules official. Or just trend. Anyway cheers Ant.
