Jason Voorhees preparing for Friday, the 13th.

newtboy says...

It was the first rated R movie I ever saw alone, maybe the first real horror movie too….I was staying with family friends in Mexico and they rented it for me when I was 10.
Good times!

I liked it better than Halloween, but Nightmare beat them both for murderous insanity.

I finally watched it last night. It wasn't good as Halloween, Nightmare on Elm St., etc.

Hellraiser - Trailer

lucky760 says...

Scary movies have never affected me. I loved horror flicks as a kid.

So even now as a grown-ass man, horror movie trailers are always just nothing more than meh, whatevs.

This trailer was pretty well done though. I actually felt my skin crawl a little. Maybe it harkens back to the original Hellraiser movies I saw as a lad and the way those creeped me out a little.

Set it to 1/4 speed at about 1:28 for a really kickass slideshow, with accompanying ambient horror movie background drone! Seeing all the windows simultaneously kick out of the top floor of (what I'm going to call) front building #4 at 1:34 is interesting.

R.I.P. to a horror movie legend...

I'm not really a Rob Zombie fan, but I absolutely love Spider Baby, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, and Monster Squad! Those are solid movies in my book.

I'm surprised to see Beware! The Blob... I didn't know someone made a sequel. Looks terrible but I love the old Blob theme song and Frank Darabont's remake of the Blob is in my top ten 80s horror movie list. Hell, it may be top ten all time horror.

I need to comb through his movie list and watch some b movies soon! I've already seen a lot of those blaxploitation flicks, but I've never seen Coffy. Looks like a fun movie.

Selfie from hell

TheSluiceGate says...

Why didn't she actually look for a person in the room after the first pic?
Seems like a sudden jump in the narrative that her character immediately goes to "it only appears in my selfie camera" rather than actually looking into the room. This is the kind of stupid writing that ruins horror movies in general. People acting certain ways not because it makes any sense, but because the plot needs to get to somewhere.

Interesting. I kinda want to unscrew the two halves and see what's hiding in there. But if I've learned anything from horror movies, resist the temptation comes to mind. That should be left to curious, innocent teenagaers.

The House Centipede is Fast, Furious, and Just So Extra

Digitalfiend jokingly says...

Unless you've had one of these skitter across the floor at warp speed while you're watching a horror movie at night, you don't know what you're saying!

But yeah, these things apparently have voracious appetites. Come to think of it, I don't think I saw many spiders at my dad's house growing up...these guys probably got them all lol.

I think I could easily handle these over spiders... sorry spiders you guys were born scary.

What's tearing this country apart isn't an impending impeachment, it's the crowdsourcing of sensationalism coupled with rampant confirmation bias. We're all intently focused on whatever supports our currently held beliefs and hits us in the feelers with a nice dose of rage/fear. In a country of 300+ million and a world where EVERYTHING is recorded, there are plenty of three sigma outliers and circus barkers for us to entertain ourselves with. The downside is that, like walking to your car after a horror movie, we are influenced by the entertainment, made worse for those of us who buy the line that this is the TRUTH of the world.

Talk to your neighbor. Question a persons method, but never question their motivation.

How Much Did He Get Paid? "A March For Their Lies"

C-note says...

The unemployment rate in the black community has always been 2x higher then the national rate. I give this guy a nod for acting in a part that is not a drug dealer, pimp, crackhead or the first person to get killed in a horror movie.

The Most Disturbing Painting

ChaosEngine says...

I'm not really a fan of straight-up horror movies. I don't have anything against them, they're just not my thing.

(Honestly, I'm a big scaredy-cat )

But I have heard good things about CITW, so I shall man up and watch it from behind the sofa.

Noooooo! Travesty.
Watch it.
So good....so very good. A totally different horror movie that's not just another rewrite of a classic, even though it starts out like every other teenage sex romp/horror movie, but then......no spoilers, just watch it. Hilarious and scary.
Side note, keep an eye out for a Reaver in the mayhem... Easter egg.
