The Real Reason Mitt Romney Will Not Be Elected As President

VoodooV says...

My first reaction was to say that Mitt doesn't understand how the internet works. But then I realized...he doesn't have to.

He just has to say stuff to make the old people clap.

"My first order, if elected as president will be to create a law, banning kids off your lawn, punishable by torture and to impose a strict, mandatory call from your kids.

...and free hard candy for all!

Reddit FINALLY (though haltingly) bans child porn (Controversy Talk Post)

jonny says...

Today we are adding another rule: No suggestive or sexual content featuring minors.
we have banned all subreddits that focus on sexualization of children ...
We're concerned about the slippery slope from banning one specific type of content to banning other types of content.

The problem isn't the slippery slope leading to banning some other type of content, but rather how do they define what they're banning now? How many debates have we had here about different posts that may or may not be considered pornographic. Now throw in another variable about the age of the people in the video. Are they kids? Do they look like kids? Are they acting childish? And those are the easy ones.

Do they prohibit certain Calvin Klein ads? Or movies like Hard Candy, Lolita, and Kids? What about novels like Shardik, or even clinical textbooks on how to deal with issues of child molestation? All of the examples I mention in this paragraph probably fall under the ban they've described, though it's hard to say because they are fairly vague about defining the proscribed content ("suggestive"? wtf does that mean?).

I'm definitely not suggesting that Reddit allow itself to be a network hub for child pornographers. They claim that they did not "make this policy change lightly or without careful deliberation." I imagine they did struggle with the decision, but it doesn't seem they spent much time figuring out just what it was they were banning.

Katy Perry - Thinking of You [Live and Acoustic]

GeeSussFreeK says...

I have a hard to picking out lyrics....so here they are for anyone like me.

I can't tell what the sentiment of this song is. It is definitely talking about remembering a past love on top of the current love. But I can't tell if it was a loss from her choice or his. I don't hear anger or lament in the lyrics from a dump, it seems more like lamenting one's choice. Anyone deeper than me have incite

Comparisons are easily done
Once you've had a taste of perfection
Like an apple hanging from a tree
I picked the ripest one
I still got the seed

You said move on
Where do I go
I guess second best
Is all I will know

Cause when I'm with him
I am thinking of you
Thinking of you
What you would do if
You were the one
Who was spending the night
Oh I wish that I
Was looking into your eyes

You're like an Indian summer
In the middle of winter
Like a hard candy
With a surprise center
How do I get better
Once I've had the best
You said there's
Tons of fish in the water
So the waters I will test

He kissed my lips
I taste your mouth
He pulled me in
I was disgusted with myself

Cause when I'm with him
I am thinking of you
Thinking of you
What you would do if
You were the one
Who was spending the night
Oh I wish that I
Was looking into...

You're the best
And yes I do regret
How I could let myself
Let you go
Now the lesson's learned
I touched it I was burned
Oh I think you should know

Cause when I'm with him
I am thinking of you
Thinking of you
What you would do if
You were the one
Who was spending the night
Oh I wish that I
Was looking into your eyes
Looking into your eyes
Looking into your eyes
Oh won't you walk through
And bust in the door
And take me away
Oh no more mistakes
Cause in your eyes I'd like to stay...

3D Porn - The future of masturbatory technology?

davidraine says...

Reminds me of when I saw Hard Candy (an old 3D porn) at the Music Box theater with about fifty other theater-goers. The best part by far was a scene where a male actor takes a money shot directly at the camera -- Nearly the entire audience cringed, shuddered, and tried to wipe themselves clean in unison.

Another Good Reason To Get Out To A Theater: "Juno" (Blog Entry by youdiejoe)

Thanks for posting this. Charms and I have seen it twice in the past week and plan to see it a third time in the coming days.

This is a truly phenomenal movie. Very smart, cute, sweet, and deep, swirling together adult reality and teenage naïveté with a cast of adorable characters that when the credits start rolling almost leave you wishing you could have seen more, although, it was all (esp. the final minutes) endlessly fulfilling.

This is definitely a must-see. Michael Cera is great as his usual nerdish, innocent self. Ellen Page could very likely end up a big deal in Hollywood as the years progress. More than a cute kid, she always exudes an aura of wit and intelligence, all the while pulling off a star caliber performance. (See also Hard Candy, which she really made fantastic.)

Also lots of credit to Diablo Cody of the famed Pussy Ranch blog (now moved onto myspace) who wrote Juno. Her fun use of language, colorful illustration of all the unusual things from our youth we sometimes forget about (e.g., a hamburger phone), and honest, textured interpersonal relationships really draw you in.

Five big stars from we Lucky Charms. Now go see it!

Hard Candy trailer

Farhad2000 says...

One of the best movies to come out last year, Ellen Page was just incredible. Great film.

Hard Candy is a 2005 film about Hayley Stark, a 14-year-old girl who meets Jeff, a 32-year-old photographer who might be a sexual predator. The two first get to know each other on the Internet before meeting in person at a local coffee shop, which results in a trip to Jeff's home; however, Jeff soon learns that Hayley is not as innocent as she appears. The title "Hard Candy" comes from the internet slang for an under-aged girl.

It is British director David Slade's first feature film, having previously worked mostly with music videos.
