i don't think that the visual hallucinations are a good comparison to what it can be like to be in an area where one can't concentrate like that.

In the middle of typing this I got distracted and opened up the Katydid eats a wart video that's trending here at the moment. in the middle of typing THAT two of my neighbors started mowing the lawn at the same time and my wife has all the windows open so I know what my allergies are going to do and i don't want to walk around with a headache all day so I better close them should I do it now or whehn i get don....

what was I saying?

Good start, but Is a $2000 fine punishment enough for voting fraudulently at least twice, and blaming political enemies for his crimes? You conveniently ignored the question.
IMO, he should see serious prison time and the fine should be at least 10 times what it is….any fraudulent voter should.

He’s the poster boy for your election fraud fraud. No “mea culpa”? No “I guess maybe we should rethink our claims”? Nope, just some whataboutism over long ago debunked and totally made up nonsense you clearly still believe, gullible rube that you are.

If such a thing had happened, absolutely the state should go after them, not the Trump mob that tried to lynch them and continues to threaten their lives daily, but since this is another moronic, long ago debunked right wing hallucination and fabrication, investigated by the state and found to be ignorant supposition by the right not subversion by the left, that’s a flat no.
🤦‍♂️

“What you saw – the secret suitcase with magic ballots – were actually ballots that had been packed into those absentee ballot carriers by the workers in the plain view of the monitors and the press,” -Georgia Election System Implementation Manager Gabriel Sterling

Democrats get accused of the crimes Republicans keep getting convicted of….because you morons really hate yourselves, but you aren’t adult enough to admit that so you project. Remember all those attempted cop killings and bombings last summer that outraged you until it became clear they were largely right wing white supremacists shooting police, lighting fires, and setting bombs….then suddenly those crimes weren’t an issue? You’re so transparent.

Good catch and he should be punished.

Lets also go after that Atlanta mother and daughter who pulled out a few suitcases of fake votes and ran them through the machines all night long giving the Biden spike... You down for that?

Duran Duran - Ordinary World

moonsammy says...

Dude. Jesus fucking... no. What? I started singing this song randomly, having to the best of my knowledge not heard it today, and literally less than 10 seconds later clicked my bookmark to Videosift. Your post was at the top of the page. Thing #1 that my eyes went to.

I'm not going to lie, I'm not 100% entirely sober and clear-headed at the moment so I freaked out a bit and closed the tab. When I re-opened VS (after looking at my prior tabs to see if there was a mention of this song on one of them), your post wasn't on the page. Switched from "Just Published" to "Hot & Rising," and it wasn't there either. I was SO happy to find it when I searched, as I was briefly afraid I'd hallucinated it altogether.

So... thank you?

How Not to Do Brownies

Engels says...

Newtboy, are you telling me you've never met anyone first hand that has had a psychedelic-type experience on edibles or just plain smoking flowers? Because although rare, it's still a thing. I've had some, very close to what this guy describes, and a friend of mine has them routinely. Are they strictly speaking hallucinations like under a psychotic episode? Not in my case, since the 'visualization' was in my mind's eye, and I wasn't literally seeing something appear in front of me, but it was psychedelic nonetheless.

How Not to Do Brownies

shagen454 says...

Yeah, that doesn't sound like weed. No doubt, edibles can be powerful and I've definitely eaten some high doses that resulted in near inability to move & audio hallucinations/distortions. But, this sounds like he went through what they call ego-death, which is reliably found in moderate to high doses of psychedelics - "geometries from other Universes", in the void remembering that you had only dreamed that you were a human alongside extreme time dilation that feel infinite or like an eternity - are dead giveaways (pardon the pun). DMT is the best, of course. Get's one there in seconds and back in 10 minutes... instead of hours and hours....

Your Brain on LSD and Acid

ulysses1904 says...

Good video. It's been 30 years since I last took it and I can't imagine taking it again anytime soon. But I never hallucinated, just felt a warm pulsing pleasant droning sensation coming off of everything. About the only way I can describe it.

Deeply Artificial Trees

Wow. That is just *remarkably* similar (though exaggerated) to actual drug induced visual hallucinations-- when your visual cortex is all wonked out and not firing right. Spooky.

Not that I would know, I heard it from a friend.

Finally, Sean Spicer's Credibility Being Questioned Openly

00Scud00 says...

I feel a bit sorry for the poor bastard in a way, I mean look what he has to work with. A President who's a pathological liar and is so disconnected from reality that if he started hallucinating it might be an improvement. A sane person would have simply resigned from his position.
I think it would be awesome if someday the Press all decided to stop showing up to these things, the ultimate vote of no confidence, every thing you say is so devoid of meaning that we no longer need to hear it.

What If You Hear Voices In Your Head?

newtboy says...

I remember when my brother had to have a psych evaluation, he told me that one of the questions they asked was "Do you see and hear things that other people don't see and hear?"
I realized it was good I wasn't the one being evaluated, because I see and hear things other people don't see and hear all the time, whenever I'm alone for instance, and often when I'm with others if I'm looking at or listening to something no one else is. That answer wouldn't go over well, I'm fairly certain.

I often wonder if auditory hallucinations that are not verbal or in any way communicative are indicative of anything important or worrying. I often can hear phantom music or phantom unintelligibly quiet talk radio in white noise, which defeats the main purpose of the white noise (made by a loud air filter), which is to drowned out all distracting noises so I can sleep.

Bill Nye Bets Climate Denying Meteorologist $20k

kceaton1 says...

I was so FUCKING bored AND tired (like barely keeping my eyes open; falling asleep, then writing more, then eventually hitting: POST!--lol) when I wrote that, can you tell?

The best part about this is that I didn't need pot or anything to make such a crazy post/comment. This was fully driven by my sleep disorder. Basically, I start to go into an "REM" like state when I get really tired (or in my case, when the right time of day hit). Sometimes I'm unable to catch myself before I do something...goofy and or funny.

THUS, you now have this wonderful post created from my sub-conscious and conscious self-working hard together to create a masterpiece!

Personally, I always find it amazing that I'm able to put sentences together and that at some points they are actually understandable, so long as you take them into consideration in a mystical and crazy freaking world/Universe where certain rules are true... The best you can do to re-create this experience is to get a mild form of Narcolepsy that MOSTLY preys on your dream and "sub-conscious" aspects belonging to the REM stage or staging... Then you have to deal with LOTS of "night terrors", hypnagogic hallucinations, and other issues (like Cataplexy). Then, you too can write mystical, strange, and WTF(?!) writings like I have above!!!

Enjoy!

Stephen Fry on Political Correctness

enoch says...

@ChaosEngine

i do not see anyone here defending anything.

now maybe we can view stephen's commentary "dismissive and belittling" as @entr0py pointed out,but i think the deeper issue was prefaced quite succinctly by stephen in his characterization of american, and western societies,as being "infantilized".

where words have become the final bastion of totality in communication and are judged strictly on a word by word basis.so much so that some on the left have been pushing harder and harder to have certain words removed from our lexicon, because they represent negative thoughts/feelings/actions or they may represent a trauma,or horrific violent memory for some people.

but this is the wrong approach.
excising words will not erase those feelings/thoughts/emotions.this will just force people to come up or use different terminology to express those feelings/thoughts.actions that once had words to at least to attempt to express those horrors and/or offenses.

which will just equate to a whole new slew of verbiage being found offensive and in dire need of being castrated from our collective vocabulary.

yet the left (extreme left i grant) appears hell bent on not only attempting to control speech but to also judge those who DO use speech that they find offensive.

this is censorship with prejudice and to claim otherwise is the lie.

just look at your first comment.
you "used" to like stephen fry's opinion, until he became callous and dismissive with what?

words.

but do you REALLY think his attitude and compassion towards those who have suffered emotional trauma is truly dismissive?

well..i do not think so.i have spoken to you enough times to have a modicum of understandings in regards to you,as a person, that you have far more depth of character.

yet it is the WORDS that have hung you up.

look man, words are inert.they are things that are only given life, meaning and context when we add our own subjectivity to them.

words are inadequate.they will ALWAYS be inadequate.
which is why we admire and praise those of us who have a command of words that can reach into our own understandings and extract meaning in a way that blossoms like a spring flower and can create worlds in which we can play, and even share with other people.

i am intimately aware of this deficiency.i do not have an economy of words, and only on rare occasions can i relay, convey and express with ANY form of reductionism.

i struggle to express not only my opinion, but the intent, humanity and compassion of my opinion.

if the extreme left gets their way,the tools we have to express ourselves becomes lesser.

and in the process,WE become lesser.because the tools for dissent, debate, discussion and even..ironically..to expose the more venal and bigoted of our society, will have been reduced to words that offend nobody.

there is danger here, and no good will come from it.no matter if the intent sounds just and the goal compassionate.

freedom of speech is the right to speak freely.
to espouse our opinions, philosophy and yes,our bigotry and prejudice, with legal immunity, but NOT social impunity.

so while we have a right to free speech.
we do not have a right to not be offended, and maybe we need to be offended sometimes.to shake us from our own self-induced apathy and our adoration of digital hallucinations.

so when the westboro baptist church says the most hateful, vitriolic and disgusting admonishments, all in the name of god.
we can be offended by them, and then ridicule them relentlessly.

would stripping words from the english language prevent this group from espousing their own brand of hate?

of course not.they would just find new words.

so what do we do then?
make words illegal?
criminally libel?

so don't judge mr fry too harshly.
he is just pointing to the dangers of controlling speech and the new trend of the perpetually offended.

the extreme right attempts to control morality, and there is serious danger in that practice.
the extreme left attempts to control how we communicate, and hence how we interact, and there is great danger in that as well.
